Re: Invisible History Re: overlooked BAM article? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 1997 20:50:47 -0800 (PST) From: Carole Reichstein Subject: Invisible History I just picked up the German-made "Invisible Hits" bootleg at Django records here in Portland. I know this CD has been discussed on this list before, and I'm sorry, but does anyone have any dirt on this release? I know it's not rare. Even though I've heard 10 of the 20 songs, I could't resist the '70's portrait of Robyn on the back, with "winged" hair & groovy pointy-collared paisley shirt. --Carole ------------------------------ From: BLATZMAN@aol.com Date: Thu, 9 Jan 1997 01:20:33 -0500 (EST) Subject: Max Eider I disliked the Max Eider album when it first came out, but now I've come around and I think it's beautiful. It's seems to have improved with age. I wish it were written in the 90's, cause it's really a breath of fresh air. Whoever wore out their copy of it- I'll tape it for you. I have the CD. And what's the deal with Jack Frost? It was called the Snap interview by Deirdrie O'Donahue(I'm not spelling her name right). Anyway, they had two LP's of the interview. One was $10.00 the other was $15.00, but they looked identical. Does anyone know if there's any live stuff in this interview, or is anyone interested in the records? Peter ------------------------------ From: Chez Stadium Subject: RH and XTC Date: Thu, 9 Jan 1997 15:47:00 -0800 fegs, In case anyone is interested, Blockbuster Music here in Santa Rosa has a copy of _The Soft Boys 1976-1981_ for about US$25 (sorry, I can't remember how much it was exactly). You might want to check your local Blockbuster Music to see if it might be in stock there. Or, you can email it privately and I'll pick it up for you. Also, Best Buy had a bunch of the Rhino releases starting at $12.99. I also saw copies of XTC's _Oranges and Lemons_ and _NONSVCH_ for $5.99. You may have similar luck with the Best Buy in your area. laterz, --g "It's not my problem if everything I've said can't make it through the walls of a vulcanized head." --Mark Gloster, "Rubberheads Don't Dent Easily" ******************************************************* Glen E. Today I actually *looked* at that BAM magazine that's been sitting by the typewriter in the jock lounge since November...turns out it's got a sub-headline on the cover that says "Robyn Hitchcock Waxes On Axes" (issue #496, Nov 1, 1996--Linda Perry on the cover). The full page story inside is titled "The eight or nine guitars of Robyn Hitchcock". I don't remember anyone posting this to the list, though some of it does sound familiar. I'll go ahead and post it some time before the end of next week unless someone tells me it's already been archived. Musicians among you will greatly enjoy the article. The rest of you will just enjoy the article a great deal. "not rare" is a relative term. in light of the recent crackdown on bootlegs, it has become harder to find them, even in (or, perhaps, especially in) the new york city area. also, robyn hitchcock is not a popular artist to bootleg -- he may have a dedicated following, but they are few in number. i'm not too sure about this disc's origins, but i suspect that it has its roots somewhere in robyn hitchcock fandom. i can't imagine why anyone else would have arranged to have it pressed. woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jan 1997 22:02:33 -0500 From: mr bean jeans Subject: Re: overlooked BAM article? also sprach Russ Reynolds : >The full page story inside is >titled "The eight or nine guitars of Robyn Hitchcock".
