Robyn has been quoted as saying that when he listens to himself, he prefers his instumentals and cover songs. Plus, he has said that his next k records project will be an EP of Hendrix covers. I missed the tour and would love to hear Robyn cover Jimi. Can anybody with '96 live tapes help me out? I showed up early, and stuck my head in the door to see what time to come back for the show....and Robyn was right inside the door, doing soundcheck, -with noone else around. He was fooling around with an acoustic doing only the stones remain, -stopped and said hello. We chatted for a minute, and then he said he was off to go and get some food , -come back at 8pm..... A bloke called Tim Keegan played support to him, -very impressive, -he's from a band called Homo...anyone know where they are based? here or UK?.....-he's like a younger version of Robyn....and a Brian Jones lookalike...they played together in the encore. Deni was there also. There's an odd heading that alludes, I guess, to the fact that it's a film ("Robyn, Not Alfred") and it manages to describe our boy as "English eccentric Robyn Hitchcock". So yeah, it's chock full o' surprises. Since some of you are going to the filming, I'm sure we'll get a full report, but it says here he's doing three shows in "an unused building that once served as an employment center". Alright! Umm, it also says the project is to be a "90-minute feature to be released next fall, accompanied by a soundtrack album... That would seem to contradict what someone said on the list recently, namely that the project had been switched from a feature to a television project. Anyone have the real lowdown? Knowing way too much about the artier side of film distribution as I do, I can't imagine a distributor picking it up except for as a sort of blowjob courtesy to Demme, but then again I don't know where it would play on (American) TV, either. Cable for sure, but not MTV or VH1, and all the other channels that run music specials always do rootsy documentaries about Bonnie Raitt or Jackson Brown, or else Madonna's Live In Rio Sextacular Explosion! Show Review Thing. Where's an English eccentric to go? Rex PS-- shocked to hear that Deni Bonet went to WVU, but then again, I'm always shocked to encounter any reference to my home state out here in the "real" world. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Dec 1996 15:27:57 -0800 (PST) From: "Dot, the Itchy God."
