After listening to Allright Yeah about 250 times in the last 2 weeks, I have concluded that it would have been a MUCH BETTER A SIDE than Driving Aloud. Then I realized that the 2 Robyn songs I just put on a friends compilation tape were Allright & Watch yer Intelligence. Merchants, is there something wrong here? Is it me being a snob. "Oh, listen to these hard to find tracks," or is it more likely that whoever is deciding what songs make it to the record doesn't have "perspextive". Maybe Robyn should let me pick his next album of hits. Also, a copy of the Madonna single has turned up in a record store. Anyone need it? And thank you VERY MUCH to the fellow who told me about Stan Ridgway's new album. It is so so so so breathtaking. It has changed my life. I am not prone to exageration; I only speak truth. Rock on you Merchants Dave ------------------------------ From: Hedblade@aol.com Date: Tue, 30 Apr 1996 03:06:01 -0400 Subject: Re: Merchants of Vibrations, Pos & Neg Man! I couldn't agree more with Dave about "Alright Yeah." I was lucky enough to find both that and the "Yip Song" promo singles IN THE SAME STORE ON THE SAME DAY about A YEAR after Respect was out. No idea how they got there, but I think I was pre-destined to have them! I put "Alright Yeah" on a compilation tape for my fiancee once (HEY, she's a Robyn fan- hell yeah I'm gonna marry her!), and she came back saying "I think that's my favorite Robyn song ever." I also saw him perform it at least once on the Perspex tour, and remember saying when Respect came out, "Where's that one cool song he did at the last show?" Anyway, seems this was a big snafu on somebody's part, and I think in a way we probably have to ultimately blame Robyn, as I'm sure most record reps would have gladly taken "Alright Yeah" over, say... Well, you ALL know which song I'm thinking of. Cheers. I just enjoy taking pot shots at the world in general--not at Terry in particular. Youre much to adorable for that. Thats what makes it polyvalent. Love Kay the diffucult Cap. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Apr 96 10:29:00 -0600 From: Jim Moore Subject: Thisishowitfeels... Will do tomorrow. i gotta set a while with my gittar and write it all out. Also, sorry for re-igniting the "raging debate" about "the pig". Matt ------------------------------ From: hollie_satterfield@mail.amsinc.com Date: Tue, 30 Apr 96 17:30:27 EST Subject: vegetarian cats Coincidentally, Cecil Adams' newspaper column The Straight Dope last week discussed whether cats and dogs need to eat meat. Get the facts regarding feline conversion to vegetarianism from http://www.veg.org/veg/Orgs/VegSocUK/Info/catfood.html Also, while many of Robyn's songs may have a sexual subtext, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" is actually literary criticism of American essayist Henry David Thoreau.
