	On a recent record shopping spree, i found what looked like a 
'madonna of the wasps' single (with the spoken word 'one long pair of eyes' 
intro and 'more than this') in a queen elvis. so i bought the thing. got 
home and thought i might see how the thing sounded, and it sounded like 
the queen elvis album. in fact, jaw dropped here, it *was* the queen 
elvis. That explains why it was in a queen elvis package, no doubt. but, 
it does not explain why the cd has the graphic for the MOTW promo single 
printed on it. 
	i remember some take months back on the list about a similar 
problem for element of light cds, if i remember right. but, has anyone 
found this with queen elvis?

	on another note, this month's select magazine, april 1996, 
mentions on page 25, sixth paragraph, a bit about john hegley. i quoth 
"...the John Hegely-core of support band Bennet,...". Is this the same 
john hegley who saw his dinner on tv with the help of robyn, morris and 
the popticians? if so, are any of the 'popticians' involved with this 
project? any uk fegs care to venture a guess?

I've got one of these too.  Apparently, enough of these error discs were
printed to prevent  it from becoming a true rarity.  I find it turning up at
record shows quite often, but the correct version appears more often.  You
can tell by looking at the inner band of metal near the center hole -- if its
fairly wide (as on most CD singles) its the correct version.  If its fairly
narrow (as on most full length CDs) its the Queen Elvis album in the single
packaging.

This disk was released through BMG Music CLub a few people I know recieved
it from there. Everything is the Queen Elvis CD except that the printing on
the actual cd was misprinted with the promo MOTW,except the real promo says
CD17718 For Promotional use only not for sale.On the Promo the two wasps
have yellow stripes where the other disc is just plain silver and the yellow
ink is lighter on the Robyn Hitchcock 'n' the egyptians on the promo.Not too
rare at all.

Subject: Wacky Banter & more

There was a show at the Great American Music Hall (san Fran) a few years back
where Robyn just had me in stitches.  Before he played a single song, he
strutted out onto the stage and told us all that we weren't his "friends".
 Sure, we were all there together for a common purpose, but he wanted to make
it very clear to all of us that we weren't friends.  

Boy oh boy, I'm not a Wordsmith.  He said it a lot better.  And everyone
loved it.  

On a different subject, I dont' find IODOT to be a downer album.  The songs
might seem sad, but some of them lack something...   It's more like they TRY
to be sad, but they never really hit me on an emotional level. (Don't yell,
some of them do hit me).

I think Respect is his real Downer Album.  Which is why I LOVE IT LOVE IT
LOVE IT to death.  Man, it just moves me.  The writing is so much more
emotional and passionate.  Sure, it's not all a downer, but the songs have
"feeling".  They demonstrate a maturity that I as a writer aspire to. 

The Bones in the Ground seems to be written by someone who hasn't really
"experienced" the thing he's writing about.  On Respect, I hear a real
sorrow.  The passing away of loved ones is really written all over the album.

Which leaves me torn.  I hear Watch Your Intelligence, and I want a whole
album of upbeat fun, just like it.

Then I hear You and Oblivion, and it just kills me to hear it.  That painful
mature honesty once again.  That so few writers seem to be able to
accomplish...

If Robyn finds that balance on his next album, it's going to be his finest to
date.  Cause he's only getting better.

Any LA fegs want to come to a party at my house next weekend?  I expect about
