You can recognize me because I'll be wearing whatever the hell I decide to put on in the morning. Okay, just ask for Rex's table. My cast of characters includes: -Rex, usually known on the FegList as "that one guy". -Megan, Rex's beloved and betrothed. -Dave "Blatzman" Santos, FegLister and merchant of vibes good, bad, and ugly. -Robert Woods, off-line Feg and co-worker of Rex's. -Derek, drummer in Rex's band the Carolinas. For those of you meeting us at the Alligator Lounge, you'll be able to recognize me because I'll be wearing... wait, I already used that line. Never mind. Anyway, hope to see some of you there. Does McCabes still exist and if it does, do they still have shows there? I thought it was on Pico Blvd. when I went to see Robyn there in the late 80's. What a great venue it is/was. -- mark mckeown ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 11:37:07 -0800 (PST) From: Griffith Davies Subject: KCRW Greetings Last night on KCRW, Robyn Hitchcock, "The Prince of Psychadelic Pop", Talked about his new album, played some new songs, and just talked as ususal. First off, he said that the new album is due in JULY. It will even be released on Vinyl. Possible song titles: Bee Manray The Feelers Was Everywhere Wide Open Star On the show, he played (solo, acoustic): Devils' Radio DeCherico Street This is How it Feels (aka 'Woman in You' on NetSurfer Ghost) The Feeler Was Everywhere Heliotrope Robyn said that he had just signed the deal with Warner Bros. today (03/18/96). He is currently fine tuning the album tracks (in fact recording some vocals today), and selecting the artwork to go with it. Some of the songs have backing musicians on it. An english band named 'Homer' plays on several tracks, including DeCherico Street. That's about it. The program length is less than 45 minutes. I can't wait to hear about the SXSW & LA shows... ______________________________________________________________ Griffith Davies griffith.davies@csun.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 15:13:08 -0400 (EDT) From: daramsey@vassar.edu (david's ramsey) Hey I was just wondering if anybody knows what happened at the Sex Pistols press conference in London yesterday afternoon. Are they going to be touring? What do you guys think about a Sex Pistols reunion? Pathetic? Silly? Exciting? Fun? Dumb? Tying this all into Robyn somehow, one could perhaps say that it is ironic that just as Robyn is possibly going to undergo a resurgence with his Warner Brothers deal, the Sex Pistols and punk rock again rear their ugly heads...the Soft Boys old nemeses seem to be dogging our man! daveR. ---there's only one way of life, and that's your own--- Levellers. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 12:48:27 -0900 (AKST) From: Brett Cooper Subject: Re: KCRW On Tue, 19 Mar 1996, Griffith Davies wrote: > Last night on KCRW, Robyn Hitchcock, "The Prince of Psychadelic Pop", Who crowned Robyn "The Prince of Psychadelic Pop"? Are they going to >be touring? You can check it all out at www.sexpistols.com (natch!). Don't bother trying to listen to the RealAudio broadcast, it sounds as though someone was standing in the back of the room with a dictation recorder. Looks like they'll tour throughout Europe starting in Finland on 6/1 (1/6 for the standards-based world) and ending in Belgium on 7/20 (20/7...). A US tour is slated for August I believe. >What do you guys think about a Sex Pistols reunion? Pathetic? > Silly? Exciting? Fun? Dumb? I think it's all of those things - and Johnny does too. Remember, we've seen THE SWINDLE happen, so they're not hiding the fact that a) they really don't like each other, b) they're old and ugly, and c) they're only in it for the money. I think it's great, as a matter of fact I've got "Never Mind The Bollocks" in the old changer as I write this. Speaking of Robyn (was I?) - if you check out www.kcrw.com you can find some really interesting RealAudio broadcasts of some of their previous musical guests (e.g., Chris Knox, Stan Ridgeway). I suppose Robyn's appearance will be up there in a short time. Speaking of Belgium (I was!) - I'll be there for two weeks in mid May, mostly drinking beer. If anyone has suggestions for things to do or see, they'd be most welcome. I'm just pissed my plans didn't have me there on 7/20! The group announced yesterday that they'll do a tour of Europe, the U-S and Asia, beginning in June in Finland. Lead singer Johnny Rotten says "those who hate us, hate us, period." But he says fans will like the tour, although the Sex Pistols don't plan to do any new material. Rotten also says he isn't ashamed of his age. In his words, "We love our beer bellies, and you're going to, too." The Sex Pistols are touring with their original lineup, including Glen Matlock, who played bass until he was replaced in 1976 by Sid Vicious. Rotten says even if Vicious hadn't died of a drug overdose in 1979, the band doesn't need him. Rotten says "Sid was nothing more than a coat hanger to fill an empty space on the stage." ____________________________________________________________________________ Can't be any better than the reunited Buzzcocks. Or what I heard of the reunited Soft Boys (none of whom have beer bellies, I might point out). -russ (who's shaped more like a sex pistol than a soft boy at this stage of his life) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 14:00:34 -0800 (PST) From: Griffith Davies Subject: Re: KCRW Regarding "The Prince of Psychadelic Pop"... I mis-quoted. it should read "The Prince of Psychadelic Folk Rock." I believe the host, Tricia Holaran, was reading from LA Weekly. Robyn responded by saying that it didn't leave much uncovered. What do you think? It is pretty much impossible to put a label on Robyn, as it is with just about any person. How about, "Musican, Robyn Hitchcock" or the one I heard the first time I saw him perform: "By the way my name is Robyn Hitchcock, I'm a singer/songwriter from England." That pretty much sums it up to me. ______________________________________________________________ Griffith Davies griffith.davies@csun.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 14:48:10 -0800 From: shmac@ix.netcom.com (Scott Hunter McCleary) Subject: fegpuppies OK, I know it's been a week or so, but I've been slow getting through the email. A number of you have mentioned your kids' affinity for RH. Well, Renfield, our Gordon Setter, pays particular attention to the between-song banter on Hen (I've seen him do this twice) and whenever Robyn sings in a lower register (especially on Eye and IODoT). He stops whatever he's doing and walks over the the nearest speaker and just stands there, almost on point. Yesterday he heard the spoken bit before the live version of Airscape and stood there through most of the song. Guess you can trust a man a dog listens to... or something like that. Special note to James in NZ -- Chris Knox makes Renfield go berserk. He runs around the house barking (Renfield, that is, not Chris Knox, who as far as I know has never even been in our house, let alone barked there). The only other time I've seen Renfield do this is at the beginning of Been Caught Stealin' -- he can't figure out where that dog is. =============================== ( SH McCleary ) ( Prodigal Dog Communications ) ( 3052 S.
