I hate to step on the showtimes for unsigned bands (especially on my own "scene's" turf), but this should allow us to demand a few encores. The LA Reader gave Robyn a "pick of the night", as they have in the past, stating that he's a great songwriter of the Lennon / Barrett caliber. No big news to us, but nice to see in the press, especially in this town of Graven Idols and Crap Music (not to mention wolves, vegetation and dimes). Listened to "Skinheads" again, and damned if you're not right! "Mucky the Pigs" it is! Even more scintilating is a recently unearthed and almost certainly authentic set of transcripts for the first three REM albums-- in what's unmistakably Michael Stipe's handwriting-- which reveals that on "Murmur", "Reckoning", and "Fables", aside from occasionally mumbling the titles to the songs, Stipe sings only the words "Muckythepigmuckythepig" over and over again. Listen closely and you'll hear it. On the same level as the recent back-to-basics Feg questions: Who is Dennis and when was he a Beatle? I assume he perished when the plane crashed down on the studio during one of those early Hamburg sessions. If I'm not mistaken, that same inferno claimed the life of Tommy Sheridan... I don't mean to be negative, but to me this doesn't sounds much like uncle bobby. (except the bits about not being aggressive and lacking self confidence.) now if it had said, prolific and accomplished musician and artist who gets moody sometimes and harshes on his fans, hates computers and loves seafood, that would have been more accurate. plus the URL didn't work for me (maybe it's just me.) boy am i bummed... Could someone please give me some info about Robyn's "Kershaw Sessions" album? I came across it yesterday and while it's one of the only ones I don't have, it looks like all but two of those songs appear on other albums I do have. Can anyone tell me if the versions on "KS" are different? Thanks for any assistance!! (Oh heck, I know I'll end up buying it anyway though!) ;) -alisa ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Mar 96 10:00:00 -0800 From: Russ Reynolds Subject: 'sploding in silence A&W Rooney--I tried to e-mail you on this but it came back as "undeliverable".
