It may well sound suspiciously like it might have evolved into 'I Wanna Destroy You', but it didn't, as IWDY was one of the earliest of the SBs FGBb-era songs, from long before Kimberley was recruited and they went twiddly. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jan 1996 23:31:08 GMT From: redsfan@dircon.co.uk (Mark McKeown) Subject: Twelve Bar Club Jan 5th Skinny Dear all, I was in attendance at last night's gig at the Twelve Bar Club in London. The first of four gigs Robyn will be playing each Friday in January. The club was voted the best live venue in London for 1995 or was it 1994? It is cozy to say the least. I would say it fits 75 folks max and there was well over 100 stuffed in last night. If anybody plans to attend any of the other gigs, my advice is to arrive when the doors open at 8. My wife and I could only see Robyn's shoulders on down because the balcony above cut off our view. It still sounded good in the end, however. >From reading the newsletter, Robyn has promised no repeats for the four Friday's and he seems to have put some thought into each of the sets. Someone shouted out for Tribolites and he said "I'm playing that one next week". Just joking or not, he seems to have planned out the sets at least a little in advance. He also said that we were free to leave him requests at the bar for upcoming weeks for songs "he knew or did not know" and he would have a look at them. The last Friday (26th) he said he would be opening for himself. As the newsletter promised, two sets for the price of one! My apologies...Near the end of the set, there were some song titles I am pretty shaky on. I needed Jonathan Turner there to keep me straight! ACOUSTIC SET: (Dressed in a plain white shirt w/black vest): Mr. Rock & Roll Queen Elvis "Recorded in '81 in D" Insect Mother Wind Cries Mary Ghost Ship I'm in Love with a Beautiful Girl "Song about Norway written in Sussex" Raining Twilight Coast "This song was written 200 yards from here" I Something You Chinese Bones ELECTRIC SET: Freeze (I agree w/Bayard from D.C. show, this sounded good) "Written in October 1983" Autumn is Your last Chance (One of my faves!) Man with a Woman's Shadow (Is this the correct name? Woman's Shadow t-shirts were on sale in the foyer) Satellite of Love (big singalong for the choruses) Queen of Eyes ENCORE: (Dressed in a blue/black shirt with big aquarium style fish) First song acoustic, rest electric. "If you're concerned about value for your money, when this finally gets recorded, it will have accompanying vocals." Heliotrope Zipper in my Spine??? Lyrics include "How many doors do you wanna open?" Heaven Woman in You Born to Cheeze You??? Lyrics include "Direct me to the cheese", "Born in Belize" "I was born to cheese you" Mark McKeown Reds News: The Reds extended the contract of 16 Wellington Court 1995 N.L. M.V.P. Gutierrez) Subject: Heaven Date: Sun, 7 Jan 1996 22:04:29 +0100 (MET) Hi I'm preparing some pages about a spanish band (Surfin' Bichos, if you are curious, you will find it somewhere at http://persephone.cps.unizar.es ). Well, this band had a Robin Hitchcock cover (Heaven, from Fegmania!); and they sing it with the lyrics translated (?) to spanish; so I'd like to compare their version against the original I have been looking for the lyrics at uwp and at woj page, but I couldn't find it; so here is my request: could anyone post the lyrics (or send it to me, if the rest aren't interested) thanks in advance... -- J.A.
