I seem to be missing versions of a few of them and complete titles as A Skull...., Fucked Up..., Horns large horns I do have these on tape listed below. If you can shed any light on them as far as: Are they correctly labelled, dated, any appear the same as Alaska? I used the Ryko Reissues and some of the Bucketful of Brains articles for dates, the CD's themselves to compare versions on the studio tracks and speed corrected them as well. Well, I'm nothing if not helpful. Alvin Lives (in Leeds): Anti Poll-Tax Trax was released in 1990 on Midnight Music (Records) Ltd., which I'm fairly sure is now defunct (so good luck contacting them at PO Box 333, Bushey, Watford, WD2 3UN), and the catalog number is/was CLANG 4 CD, for the CD version. I assume if a cassette or LP was released it would be CLANG 4-something else. There's also a logo on it for an outfit calling itself "The Sound of Spasm." I use a sony D7, which has a reputation for being unreliable but is nonetheless the most widely used portable dat recorder-- Robyn uses one to make archive recordings of all of his shows. Other than the D7 (or its new replacement, the D8, which is very similar and more expensive) I cannot in good conscience recommend any sony dat decks (the unportable tascam da-20 is _very_ nice, however). For analog recording, I think the D6 is the weapon of choice. I have had no problems with my D7 (yet); if you can afford a couple hundred more, I feel dat is the way to go. tom narten introduced me to the dat-heads mailing list digest, which is a wealth of information on this topic. Email me for info on how to subscribe. the newsgroup alt.music.bootlegs also may or may not prove helpful. Back to Robyn-- In my (hopefully) final days of unemployment, I'm having fun writing up a Robyn trivia quiz. If you have any ideas for funny, difficult, or unusual questions about the Man, his life and work, bandmates, or even us humble listmembers or the list, send them along! there will be a rare, spiffo robyn-related item as a prize to the one who wins the quiz. oh, better give me the answers to the questions you submit, too. bayard ------------------------------ From: spec@netcom.com (The Dark Isz) Subject: Robyn on WHFS Jan. 7 Date: Sat, 6 Jan 1996 06:59:00 -0800 (PST) Hi there - In case you MD/DC/VA area Fegs hadn't heard, Robyn will be on WHFS' Just Passing Through, Sunday, Jan. 7th at 7:00pm - I think that's the starting time. I'm not sure how long this show lasts - at least an hour would be nice. ***** Here's an offer to all Fegs - I have four copies of the WHFS Press that has Robyn's adventures in Rio. I'll send a copy to the first four people who send me e-mail. At the end of You and Oblivion, and between several tracks, there are snippets of his daughter, Maisie singing. There are also recordings of some woman talking and probably some other stuff. I wonder if this was edited in on purpose?
