Hence, "spring into autumn". i thought of this exact concept in the shower last weekend whilst thinking about the gloriously-colo(u)red leaves in maine and the t-shirt (which i had been wearing the previous day). the pun is the thing, clearly. however, i think it dovetails nicely into robyn's advancing age as well. he is in his autumn, though the leaves on his head are turning grey, not bright red or orange. i always thought it odd that he should write so many songs about autumn and leaves, but now those songs seem to be coming into their own. notice the reappearance of "autumn is your last chance" in his sets this past year or so. woj ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Oct 1995 23:38:48 -0400 From: beach house tiki god To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: RE: Kershaw Sessions jimm@dbu.edu sez: >I picked up the Kershaw CD after I saw Robyn this spring at Poor David's in >Dallas and I enjoyed it immensely. the best thing about the kershaw sessions disc for me was finally having a static-free recording of that *wonderful* rendition of "52 stations". ah, bliss! >Couple of questions.... I think I posted it, but I stole that line from someone's alias for the list. Oh..and I think that roofs is the plural of roof, but he sings it rooves, so I put in rooves. And it's either piano heads or piano hits. Piano hits sounds slightly more likely (ie: Look at any synth keyboard. They've got an 'Orchestra Hit' sound on them. I guess a piano hit is an orchestra hit with less instruments..) I spotted the Australian "Oceanside/Dark Green Energy" CD single here in London a few days ago, priced at 7 pounds. I can drop by the shop and pick it up if anyone wants it (jimm@dbu - you get first refusal) for the cost of the disc & postage. (Vinyl Experience, Hanway Street, W1, for locals.) There's also a copy around of the "Catalog Sampler" that Rhino issued to promote the reissues - no rare tracks, just a selection of 3 or 4 tracks from each of the reissues except for "You & Oblivion," total of 20 tracks. No front insert, but the disc has part of Robyn's "Sounds Great When You're Dead" cartoon etched into it. It was nine or ten pounds, I think. (Reckless, Berwick St., W1). This talk of reference books reminds me of the Robyn listing I saw in one of those books that endeavours to list every album made ever by anyone. Robyn's listing included "I Often Dream Of France." I wonder why he stopped when he reached the Isle of Wight ? Anyone know what the French for "Airscape" is ? Robyn does some bizzare "backwards" language ======================================================================== Yes... I forgot about that "bizarre backwards language" in the middle of the Hen version of "Brenda". Does this mean that the Kershaw version is a previously unreleased version? Can anyone answer this? Funny, but I know I've heard it somewhere before.... maybe it's the same version that is on my "Brenda of the Lighbulb Eyes" video... maybe not... Is "Heaven" from Kershaw the same version as the one found on Hen? Beaker ps. Speaking of meaningless trivia, I have a copy of the Glass Fish Invisible Hitchcock that has "Element of Light" written as the title on the CD itself. There was a little disclaimer note inside the CD when I bought it that said something like "The title of this CD is NOT "Element of Light", but "Invisible Hitchcock". I can't remember exactly, but I think the track listings written on the CD are from Invisible Hitchcock...
