What's more, judging by his Bobby-ness's tendency to play with tempo and style as songs go from demo to record to live I kinda wonder if his relation to his songs is changes with his mood as well. I mean, I love the tempo on GLTHO...and I love the tempo on Eye. Or respect. Or Dis an album and we'll talk. And on the topic of dissing, I had to laugh to see that the battles rage on over the merits of steeleye span. Heehee. Wanna start a fight? Steeleye Span are English folkies, similar in style to Fairport Convention, in that they do traditional folk songs or originals modeled on folk styling, using a mixture of traditional and rock instruments. Not a bad band, but not a patch on Pentangle (yeah, I'm an old folky hippy). Their double best of "Original Masters" is a good place to start, or perhaps onbe of their classics like "Commoners Crown" - which features Peter Sellers as guest ukelele player. No, I'm not kidding. It was titled Steve McQueen, but his widow sued over trademark infringement, and in the states the name became Two Wheels Good. in any case, one of the most brilliant albums ever made... but the american CD version has bonus tracks and good liner notes, whereas the English & Australian CDs have skimpy notes, no bonus tracks and a muddy final mix (since i have them all, i can safely say that these are my own well observed opinions.) josh [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Mon, 4 Sep 1995 18:31:01 -0400 From: mikeb@usa1.com (Mike Breen) To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Catchup, part deux About Feg demographics: >Not much in the SF bay area? I could definatly do without "Life is White" on Big Star's "Radio City" and "Revolution 9" There's very few Robyn songs I could do without, though. Aside from "I Something You" "Sweet Ghost Of Light" "Ye Sleeping Knights" and "Then You're Dust," I listen to pretty much every album start to finish. And "Invisible" stuff in particular: >On the other hand, I love Invisible Hits as a complete album, more so than A Can >of Bees, which just shows what a fertile period of writing Robyn was hitting at the >time. Again, gotta agree. I actually hated "Bees" when I first bought it (on the heels of "Moonlight"), so I was _kinda_ worried about getting IH. I actually thought IH was an official album that was released between the two, I liked it _that_ much. Since the "boxed set" came out, I've appreciated "Bees" more. Ah!!!
