I've started writing songs, I've got titles, chords, and so on.. Problem is, after I get past the first line or two, I can't write. I never claimed to be a good lyricist. Hopefully, one of you will claim to be a good lyricist and volunteer to help me out with this... Robyn content: One of the songs that I would like to have co-written was written by Robyn in a dream of mine. I got the chords, but I've got no idea how the words go...If one of you could help me, I would be eternally grateful [I make no money as a musician..I'd split profits, but I don't make profits...] Terry "The Human Mellotron" Marks a013645t@bcfreenet.seflin.lib.fl.us [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Sat, 5 Aug 1995 10:01:08 -0400 (EDT) From: Terry Marks Subject: CRD: Surfer Ghost 1 To: Pretty Girls and Anglepoise lamps Well, I'm tabbing out Surfer Ghost. Anyway, the Robyn appearance did occur on Acoustic Cafe. I am sitting here in my office listening to my copy of it. In the first segment, Robyn starts off playing an incredible string version of "Egyptian Creme". Deni really gets into her violin playing during the song. Then, Robyn talks with the Acoustic Cafe host about the reissue of the albums. He says he doesn't like some of the original songs on the albums anymore but that if he didn't include them, the albums would then be bootlegged and he didn't want that to happen so he just decided to include everything. Then, to close up the first segment, Deni and Robyn play "Sinister" which since listening to several times now, I have really really come to enjoy. To start the second segment, both Robyn and Deni talk about the recording of these new songs. Robyn says that some of them were recorded in a graveyard in the UK while some others were recorded in a small cafe in Washington DC. He says that he and Deni are getting very proficient in the songs because they have played a lot of "2 a night" clubs during this tour. Then, Robyn says that he and Deni will be in the studio in July and August in Britain with an album out early next year. Then to close things, Robyn played "DeChiricco Street", once again with Deni on violin. I know that Acoustic Cafe taped more songs than just what was played because the week before, they played a live version of "Arms of Love" from the same recording session. They can be reached via e-mail at "acafe@ic.net". I don't know how many songs they were able to record all together but I am certainly pleased with the four that I have heard played. Date:8/7/95 Hi gang. I wanted to let you all know that Bayard is off the hook for any delay that could be occurring this week on the Glass Flesh front. On Thursday of last week, I was told quite suddenly (and to my own personal joy) that I was going to MacWorld in Boston this week. (I will be staying at LE MERIDIEN BOSTON for those fegs who would like to contact me there). Donne and I have been unable put in all the new changes in time before leaving (in a few minutes). Donne and I have some info shuffling we have to do before we send out the jcards, so I expect that we'll be finishing up next weekend. I am certain that I am just as anxious for this to happen as you all. As Jeff Lawrence would say, Slainte!, I would be more inclined to say Ciao, however, -Mark Gloster "the man with the Macintosh head" [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Mon, 7 Aug 1995 15:38:31 -0400 From: bj835@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Tim Connors) To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Open the Door, Reg Sorry if this appears twice; it seemed to have bounced: Jeffrey with 2 Fs asked: i've heard robyn do 'open the door, homer' from this album as well. it's confusing since the lyrics in both versions of the song don't even mention a homer. the song is addressed to a richard. what is up with that? Here's what's up with that: "Open the Door, Homer" contains two references that you need to know to get the joke. First, there's an old song called "Open the Door, Richard," from the '40s, based in turn on a popular comedy routine in which a drunk guy tries to get Richard to let him in the house. There were quite a few versions of the song; the one you hear most often today is by Louis Jordan. Second, the song is "written for" folksinger Richard Farina, of Richard and Mimi Farina. Well-known in the 60s, today best known for being brother-in-law and sister of Joan Baez, respectively. Richard had picked up the nickname "Homer" somewhere or other. So Dylan's original uses the name "Richard" in the lyrics despite the name "Homer" in the title -- that's not a patented Robyn embellishment. If any of this is wrong, some Dylan fan will probably straighten me out! [][][][][][][][] End of this Fegmaniax Digest.
