I picked up the guitar about a month ago, and I was hoping someone could email a few simple songs. I still suck, so go easy on me. Anything Post Queen Elvis would be very cool. Very very very cool. But of course I'll take anything. Thanks a Billion! Arms of Love is, I would be willing to place money on, a small black thingie called an e-bow. It is two electromagnets that fire alternatly, causing the string to vibrate as long as it's placed against the guitar. ---Mike (Nickname o' the month "Strat Abuse Boy") mikester@bix.com mikeb@usa1.com [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Mon, 26 Jun 95 15:12 GMT+0200 To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu From: hardaker@iaccess.za (Mike Hardaker) Subject: Never Stop Bleeding Well, here's my two pennorth: Tuning: EGDGBE (so, standard except the A-sting drops a tone) Chords: G: 30(3)033 (the bracketed noter is the hammer on) C (in verse) x55053 Bb6 x33031 C (in Never Stop... bit) c55050 Enjoy! What's worse is when eMtyVee shows footage of some Alternative Super Group playing it without giving due credit. Saw members of the Offspring and Red Hot Chili Peppers together playing "I Wanna Destroy You." Seeing that braided putz singer from the Offspring yelling the words to a song by my favorite band, then seeing the MTV announcer ignore it, really irks me. Sheesh. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Gene Hopstetter, Jr. + gene@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu Writer/Layout/WWW Guy + Tulane Computing Services http://yodelling-hoover.tcs.tulane.edu/ [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Mon, 26 Jun 1995 10:50:43 -0500 From: "Chuck Tomlinson" To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Brain Taco Anyone else see the MTV blurb on a concert benefit for the Surfrider Foundation? The bad was "Brain Taco" made up of guitarist Dave Navarro of Janes' Addiction/RHCP, drummmer Chad Smith from the RHCP, and the vocalist from the Circle Jerk's. The concert footage prominently featured the band doing "I Wanna Destroy You", and the voice-over characterized the lyric as a message to legislator's concerning the loosening of environmental regulations on chemical companies. (The Surfrider Foundation is fighting for more legislation to control pollution of Pacific shores). Maybe Rhino should work out an exchange policy like you can do when Hi, Mark. I think this is the point. The pre-A&M albums have been difficult to find in the past. I previously lived in Kansas and had to drive a great distance to get to a music shop that carried imports and small labels. Summing up all that petrol, I'd say it's better to have them available on a major label. "Arms of Love"? Worth picking up? Forgive me if this has been covered...I wasn't paying attention before. Got the K single last week. Pretty cool. I'd love to hear the Soft Boys version of "Zipper in my Spine" Russ. Curry (to corpse): I got the hots for you. There is a guy who does this professionally, and can play entire songs this way. I have never been able to successfully accomplish this, as I have maybe too much oil in my skin, but not so much that it keeps my fingers from squauking on my guitar strings. Hey, I'm back from Hawii. And slowly making it sideways and backwards through all the posts of the last two weeks. This also keeps me from having to face the huge steaming pile of work I have to do. Um... no! As someone who sings it regularly, I can definatly say it's about anything BUT that. What's funny is it's about precicely what they're (the media) doing! "They tell you your opinions and they're very good, indeed." Besides, it was written in 1980 _long_ before any of this became hip.
