"Clones" was recorded at the University and Lady Mitchell Hall, with the band playing electric things. Plus there's a few tracks recorded in Leicester. "Portland Arms" was recorded at the Portland Arms, with acoustic things. There is no overlap between "Clones" and "Arms." Or between "Clones" and stuff from the same show(s) that showed up on the Soft Boys compilation, as far as I can recall. (I guess this is what "the same recordings as used on the official releases" means). I think a track list for "Clones" was posted a while back. It turns out that this track is "I Wanna Destroy You". WHFS premiered the song last night. Debbie's vocals are a bit buried under the John Lydon-ish screaming of the Circle Jerks, but it was an interesting take on the song nonetheless. (I am not making this up.) I seem to remember that the video doesn't sync up with the album in some places which leads me to believe that there was a bit of post-production done. Anyone else notice this also? (of course it's hard to find a more subjective topic than favorite albums, of which favorite *live* albums is clearly a subset... but i'll happily defend any of these choices if anyone asks me to) doug who, for the record, likes _hen..._ just fine, but kinda wishes it had more between-song patter on it, not to mention a robyn monologue or two... The Soft Boys' songs (Leppo, Kingdom of Love) sounded really speeded up and fake. Robyn is great, but for songs like that, you can just really hear the lack of Kimberly. It sounds like sort of what happens when an older group puts in those backing singer ladies at a concert or like when someone puts on a bad toupee. It covers a problem. Doesn't solve it, and it's easy to tell.. Way I see it at least. My choice for best live album is the first disc of Pink Floyd's Ummagumma. All 4 cuts were definite improvements over any previous version. Disc 2, unfortunately, is , except for 3 songs, unadulterated, electronically enhanced crap. Most of the band tried being more experimental than creative.... Underwater Moonlight is *the* essential Soft Boys CD, and, really, the only one you need. Bees is pointless. Hits...I've never heard, honestly. You & Oblivion is neccesary, I say. Never heard Element, Queen Elvis or Fegmania. Gravy Deco is a maybe sort of album (GD is GDo+GDa). I often dream of trains, I cannot stand. It has 3 songs that I like...Pretty Girl (Can't get it out of my head now), Sounds Great and some other one. THe rest, I swear, I recognize the guitar riffs from those classic rock songs I hear on the radio. Listen to 'I'd love to change the world' then to...I forget the name...the chords are at least really close, if not identical. Perspex is good, but optional. Eye and GLobe of Frogs are must-haves. Black Snake Diamond Role is nearly as important as Underwater Moonlight to have. Anyone want to reply in e-mail (discussion) or through Fegmaniax(group banter). Any albums taht I missed? Brenda's Iron Sledge Tab (need advice) To: Dark@bcfreenet.seflin.lib.fl.us Cc: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu I don't have a copy of the song, but, thanks to your advice, I'm going to buy one. Sorry, all of you that cheered for Hen...better luck next time I play it in open D (D,A,D,F#,A,d). All chords are just barred. To mimic the nifty accordion/harmonica sound, I steadily strum while occasionally muting the first 4 strings. If someone could try this out and tell me if it's in tune...Even if it isn't, it's easy and fun to play and sing. D We head downhill, my hands fly back Our fingers freeze, our hair falls out, our hair falls out Our fingers freeze, our hair falls out The iron piston pumps and spouts F The steaming air as hot as sprouts E D E F A All aboard, Brenda's iron sledge I usually through in an instrumental break by barring the highest 4 strings at the 10th, 12th and 14th frets...it may not be in the song, but I like it.
