To: "fegmaniax" Conan might have goofed up, but did anyone else catch Robyn last night on the old David Letterman rerun on the "E" channel? I didn't catch the exact date, but he performed Madonna of the Wasps. Chuck [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Thu, 1 Jun 1995 10:57:17 -0400 (EDT) From: Bayard To: glass frogs Subject: last glass flesh msg (or, the latest installment in an seemingly , never-ending saga of struggling upstream) hello again friends. I have need of your attention. woj's tape tree is bigger than mine and I'm jealous. ;) Thirty-nine of you have asked to join the _Glass Flesh_ tape tree distribution project. When I send copies to Robyn I want to be able to tell him his tribute is almost as far-reaching as internet itself. It'd be nice to show him that computers can do something good, after all! So I expect to hear from all one hundred sixty-whatever of you by tomorrow. I need to hear from contributors too, just to make sure you don't get left out. I lost a lot of addresses when my old account went down. Mike has all your stats, though. I still need those pesky little snippets for the j cards! Mark and Donne are doing a right professional job on them; trust me, you'll want a bit of text in these. But they're going on vacation soon and it would be nice to have them ready in case the cables and boxes i've ordered to hook my 2 dat's (which I now have) together arrive and I can start/finish even if they're still relaxing on the beach (yes, relax Mark! ;) I've now listened to all the songs I've received, I have the technology. And I'm proud to say there's not one I dislike. Some are revolutionary, some are expert mimicries of the original, some are laugh-out-loud funny, some have hiss on them, some are expertly produced, some were knocked off in one great take and some were most likely agonized over. One is still lost in the mail (but I believe it's been resent) and one from a recent arrival has not gotten to me yet. Here's a review. wax doll/cynthia mask; -Dolph Chaney Recorded live and direct, the two songs mesh together remarkably well, as one might expect. queen elvis; --Mike Hardaker (lost in the s.african/US mail systems?) the abandoned brain, tonight; - Ecnelis Sullenroc "I can't believe I got put in between Mark and Dave on side 1 of tape 1. Surrounded by professionals... I don't know which to mix into the background, my silly voice or shoddy playing." i wanna destroy you; insanely jealous; -Other Days Destroy you has been covered many times before, but this version is the only one I've heard that has the er, balls of the original. Jealous has the venom it should too. furry green atom bowl; uncorrected personality traits; -John B. Jones The former had me giggling like a fiend, the latter is a dead-on replica. midnight fish; -King Nihilator The King's basso profundo permeates this very wet version of the classic. heliotrope; city of shame; -- Mr. Toad I believe the former is also known as "She Worships the Sun". Nifty, these. alright yeah; she doesn't exist; love; surgery; i something you; --modest mr. brown & associates Modest Mr. Brown has gathered together some of the finest Minds in Athens to contribute. Sir Poopyseed helps out on Alright yeah, Meat Ruiner lends her lovely voice to love, Elf Power nicely twist Surgery and Caz and Vegas V do an incredible disco remix of she don't exit. Plus I something you, which I'm particularly partial to. ;) Oops, make that "poppyseed" i used to say i love you; my wife 'n my dead wife; flavor of night; glass hotel; --Nismo S. Rebrot (instrumental except IutsIly) Nismo sweated over a hot keyboard for hours to produce his finely crafted synthpieces. Rawdoh lends his voice to the project on "...Love you". airscape; Happy cactus 'n other rotting flesh Recorded love before a deceased studio audience in one high-flying take. ride;--the Beaker People; serpent at the gates of wisdom --James Dignan New Zealand's best kept secret. Now hear the voice and instruments of he who has brought you so many chord decodings! the president; if you were a priest; railway shoes; Bruce/Mark Haemmermele Mark plays all instruments (though not necessarily at once) on Priest, Bruce strums up Railway shoes on his own and performs with Polecats 4 Peace on 'President'. I've tried not to listen to the tape too much, but it's hard cos I like it and Bruce was the first to contribute QUITE a long time ago. brenda's iron sledge; ye sleeping knights of jesus; kingdom of love; Kevin S. Very professional and I'm happy to report he'll most likely have another batch for Volume III of the project. He gave me 3 versions of each song! nocturne prelude: anonymous This just showed up on my voicemail a year or two ago. I kept it there, for just such an occasion. mr. deadly, i watch the cars, old pervert: clint golden and associates Groovy... very groovy. underwater moonlight --the transparencies Mike and I agree that "Caroline of the Transparencies" will most definitely be sung by Robyn at some point. higsons, mw&mdw -- Mark Gloster solo and with Big Rubber Shark Mark's vocals and playing are so good, I'm turning aquamarine with envy. His Higsons is an absolute smash and "My wife..." is fascinating, if a bit percalooliar. one long pair of eyes-- Dave Brown (w/mark g.?) See Mark Gloster review. balloon man (rubber edit) --VERGE Jeff took the controversial classic to new heights-- outer space! Fans of Man or Astro-man? will love this one. He included a version with no vocals so you can sing along at home. queen of eyes- bradley skaught The delicate Queen gets a workout and ends up with ripping muscles. A good warm, fuzzzy, hard treatment. I feel really good about this project. Everyone who has contributed or offered to help with the tree has been really cool. Why not do Robyn proud and join our growing ranks... all it'll cost you is two 90 minute tapes and postage. Thanks very much.
