Feglets, Apropos de nada: I'm watching MST3K's "The Lost Continent" when all of a sudden I'm by struck by a momentary, uncanny resemblence between a slightly grizzled Hugh Beaumont (Beaumant?, -ent?; yes, of "Beaver" fame) and our man Robyn. But it only lasted for a second, and made absolutely no sense: as are the case with all the best epiphanies. Been playing QE for a while myself, and would like to sound y'all out on the following: 1. Try a Dmaj7 instead of the A in the verse 2. In the "oh and I'll sculpt you" section, try Bmin (then to G,D,G,D,A) That might be closer to the original...then again my guitar doesn't quite play in tune since the fire....dan [][][][][][][][][][] From: AGORALIVE@aol.com Date: Tue, 16 May 1995 10:33:44 -0400 To: Fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: mail list Please take me off the mail list. That is to say XXX22X. That's how it sounds to me anywho. Take care, Chris Coates [][][][][][][][][][] From: BRUCE%TOYVAX@Arizona.EDU Date: Tue, 16 May 1995 09:51:22 -0700 (MST) Subject: lyrics To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Since there seems to be lyric question thread again I have always wondered what the last few lines of The Lizard are. I can only make out a few words as the song is fading at that time... the vocal is way down in the mix.... Robyn is singing in a very high register and there is massive echo.... I am sure only that he does not repeat one of the first 3 verses. bh [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Tue, 16 May 95 13:17:38 From: kenster@MIT.EDU (ostrander) To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Re: The Man With The Lightbulb Head "daddy, it's the man with the lightbulb head!" Quickly, I have been a fan since Globe of Frogs (one of the REM converts) and have been a Robyn addict ever since. Got to see him solo acoustic in Golden Gate Park here in San Fran back in '89. Have some good pictures from it which I may scan one day. Saw him open for REM (so/so) and saw him most recently a few months ago at a very small club here. Brilliant! I really appreciate the guitar chords being posted as I am a rather naive guitar player myself. I hate to be making a request on my first posting, but if anyone has "I Used to Say I Love You" from "Trains" figured out, I would LOVE to see it. My apologies if it was posted before I came on. But a couple of corrections (IMHO). i. Queen Elvis: >D A >People get what they deserve > Am >Time is round and space is curved Try: D A7 People get what they deserve Am7 Time is round and space is curved >G D >Justify your special ways >G A >Justify your special ways Is actually: Em A7 Justify your special ways Em A7 Justify your special ways >Em D G A >Oh, and I'll sculpt you, so very hard >Em D A >Oh, and I'll sculpt you, 'till you breathe Should be: Bm A7 D G Oh, and I'll sculpt you, so very hard G D A7 Oh, and I'll sculpt you, 'till you breathe And it's 'bleed' the first time and 'breathe' the second, IIRC. ii. Heaven: > Bb C F Bb >You've got h - e - a - ven is Bb C Am Bb You've got h - e - a - ven And every G you mark is really a Gm. iii. The Man With The Lightbulb Head: > F# E >I'm the man with the lightbulb head The F# is actually a Bm7. iv. Arms of Love: >G C G >Maybe tonight you're achin' >G C G >For someone you're dreamin' of I think it's simply: G Maybe tonight you're aching C For someone you're dreaming of But I'm less sure of this ;-) Mike. The show goes out from 4-6pm. Live guests usually get to play 2 songs and are interviewed. I'm not sure at what point in the show he'll appear, unfortunately. GLR is 94.9FM, can be picked up in London and as far out as Reading, usually. I'll be at work, so if anyone hears it, do let us know what went on! Jonathan PS anyone wanting to join us for a pre-show drink or maybe eats tomorrow, do get in touch. We'll be pleasantly lemon-scented. RH: The Soft Boys supported the Damned at their first farewell gig at the Rainbow, and then Sensible materialised ata Soft Boys gig towards the end of the band and said "Hello, I'm Captain Sensible", and I said "Ooh, fancy that" and then he turned up at about our third to last gig which was at the I.C.A. with the Thompson Twins supporting us on 12/31/80, and said "Can I come and sing with you on the encores?". I asked if he knew the words and he said he knew the words to "Sandra's Having Her Brain Out". He seemed alright so we said "Yeah, OK". So he got up on stage and I realised he was out of his tree, completely plastered. Sensible has this sort of wally factor that takes over when he's drunk, and he grabbed my hair, threw a glass of water over the audience and started shouting "Sandra's having her brain out, Sandra's having her brain out", taking no notice at all of any of the changes in the song. Then he fell over backwards and two of our roadies had to throw him out into the snow. He had to knock on the front door to get his beret back. But despite that our relationship flourished.
