From: Aaro Koskinen Hello all, I'm looking for tape trades of Robyn's shows. I've got month's Ann Arbor early & late shows (1st generation from soundboard DAT, quality A+), plus few tapes from 86-92 (complete list is on my WWW pages). Also, I wonder if anyone knows exact dates & venues for following: 91, On The Edge FM (?) (short interview + live Alright Yeah/She Doesn't Exist) January 91, Mountain Stage, Charleston November 91, Westwood One July 92, San Diego 91X Thanks. P.S. I'm also interested in Roy Harper, Neil Young, Pink Floyd (+solo) and Page/Plant shows. -- Aaro.Koskinen@Helsinki.FI "When life is complete, http://www.helsinki.fi/~akoskine/ there's something missing still" [][][][][][][][][][] From: mikester@bix.com Date: Tue, 02 May 1995 19:24:43 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: Homophonic songs To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu >Personally, I LOVE it when an artist lifts something from his previous work >--it ties his whole body of work together. Then you'd love Scott Miller's stuff. He's got what someone on Loud-Fans calls "shards," intersperced throuout both Game Theory's "Lolita Nation," and the Loud Family's "Plants & Birds & Rocks & Things." "Shards" are 2 to 30 second sound bytes, usually from an older song. ---Mike (Nickname o' the month (extended into May) - "Rickenbacker Boy") [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Wed, 3 May 1995 07:08:18 -0400 From: wombat toga party To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Homophony and production [forwarded from james dignan - watch the headers!] >From james.dignan@stonebow.otago.ac.nz Wed May 3 00:41:17 1995 >Date: Wed, 3 May 1995 16:37:08 +1200 >To: wombat toga party >From: james.dignan@stonebow.otago.ac.nz (James) >Subject: Homophony and production > >>From: "Mark Gloster" >> >>Long message follows and contains only opinions, though I might regard them as >>facts: >>Producers: > >We shoulkd probably consider the sort of producers who can bring out the >best of people in semi-acoustic solo work... I may have to be a leaf because, while my dual cassette stereo is decent, it has no specific noice reduction feature (i.e., if anyone *must* have dolby level such-and-such, I can't do it). But I've taped many things for many people and have yet to recieve any complaints... cynthia P.S. the last time I signed up for a tape tree, Fegmaniax went down for several months and I never heard what happened with the tree. Hope that's not a bad sign. [][][][][][][][][][] From: mikester@bix.com Date: Wed, 03 May 1995 18:39:45 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Glass Flesh Contributors, listen up... RH: They would have been a great team to be in. When you think about great teams, The Beatles and The Pythons immediately spring to mind. The Pythons were as much a part of their time as The Beatles. PT: When you started buying records yourself, what sort of things were you into? RH: The first record I bought was "It's All Over Now" by the Rolling Stones, and I was so embarrassed by it because I was eleven and there were all these big tall guys in checked shirts and jeans in the shop- and they had hair styles. They were standing around, looking tall and talking about chicks and sideburns or something. Maybe they were talking about three-pin plugs and adaptors, I don't know, but it was something that I wasn't old enough to be part of. I sort of squeaked up to the counter and blurted out "CanIhaveIt'sAllOverNowbyTheRollingStonesplease", and chucked down five bob. I was so embarrassed by it, I only ever played it twice. (i apologize for the dearth of capitals I originally assumed that it was Frank 'Pixie' Black, but I've just seen an ad for the Phoenix festival that lists a "Frances Black." I believe there is an Irish folk/country singer by that name ? That would seem to fit in better with the line-up on the relevant stage at the festival for that day; a better match than Frank Black, anyway. I'll chat with my Irish music consultant later today. Of course, Black Francis could have changed his name AGAIN. I guess the answer is "I don't know." Jonathan. (not Liverpool, but probably at least one of Cambridge or Leicester).
