Hey, I've been gushing all week to everyone else, so it's nearly out of my system now. Anyway, we were listening to Queen Elvis last night and it reminded me that Robyn changed the last few lines of The Devil's Coachman at the Saturday late show. I can't remember what they were exactly, and of course, paraphrasing Mr. Hitchcock doesn't quite cut it. Does anyone have/remember the exact wording? It involved the devil appearing and Robyn wanting to strangle him but, being English, making him tea instead. Thanks to Doug for being a genial concert neighbor and telling me about this list. All I remember -- which is not that helpful, but may jog someone else's memory -- is that the very end of the line was "and I made him toast." It occurs to me that "so I made him breakfast and I made him toast" would fit the meter, but I'm not sure that's what he sang. It was the first time I had ever seen Dave Matthews. I taped it, but I don't listen to the tape very often, so I couldn't tell you what songs he played. He was pretty personable as opening acts go. He broke a string in the middle of one tune. That's about all I can remember. The Dave Matthews Band is playing Saturday Night Live this week. It will be the first time in about 3 years I've tuned in. On a related note: when Belly were touring in support of their first album, they played the WHFS "HFStival", or whatever it's called. RH's only appearance was to introduce them. I think he called them "the inflatable Belly". BTW - our local free newspaper claims that he's rumored to be living in DC again.
