Um, sorry, guess the Americans never saw it. OK- the young ones were: Vyvyan - Adrian Edmondson. A punk of the most violent kind. Rick - Rik Mayall. A smarmy "let's be really hip and correct" complete bastard. Mike - ???. Always looking to make a quick profit. Probably from a long line of sharks, spivs and wide boys. and Neil - Nigel Planer. The lentil eating heavy "oh wow man" hippy. Favourite Neil quote: "I just drone on and on and no-one ever listens. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record" The series also marked the big-time debut of Alexei Sayle, as landlord Jerszy Bulofsky. The young ones cut a charity record with Cliff Richard (Living Doll). Edmondson, Mayall and Sayle are still regularly seen in british comedies. Planer, who had done quite a bit of comedy and music before the Young Ones, seems to have disappeared from sight. And even now, the Comedy Channel will be airing it Saturday Nights at 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. To all in the States. . .this is an excellent comedy show. I highly recommend it, particularly if you enjoy Monty Python, oh fans of the offbeat. :) > Rick - Rik Mayall. A smarmy "let's be really hip and correct" complete bastard. I'm just praying that a random business trip lands me somewhere that robyn is in the coming months. Sigh. 1) Someone asked about the photo on the back of the sleeve on the new "I Something You" 7." When I picked it up at Neurotic Records in SF I speculated that it was a picture of Robyn and his dad. I asked the store owner Liz (who should know, being Robyn's friend and all) and she confirmed that it was indeed the Sr. Hitchcock. 2) I definitely must concur about those Matthew Sweet shows with Robyn...Being the obsessed Robyn fan I was right in front of the stage for the 2 shows at Slim's in SF---having to deal with Matthew Sweet up close and personal 2 nights in a row was torture--it was painfully loud, he seemed drunk, and he had a bad attitude...I've never given him a second chance because of those shows--it seemed very amateurish to pull attitude like that with a robyn audience--we expect more! 3) T-shirts: I will always regret not buying the Man with the Lightbulb Head t-shirt back in 86 (I think?) It's hilarious. At least I have a photo of a friend of mine wearing it--the next best thing I suppose. Hitchcock says that, despite what some people think, he was never a fan of LSD. "Acid didn't stimulate my creativity," he says. Trust me. Hi, Russ. This is hilarious. I never knew there was Zinc Pear t-shirt. Whoa. My sympathies. (But you could go on a diet.) Mrs. Wafflehead is selling t-shirts. I think the only one that's a drawing rather than a cartoon is from the tour last Sept/Oct. I've never seen it, but somebody did post about it last fall as being a white drawing on black, with cat head balloons, etc on it. The song quote has "Jasper, this one's evil" in it.
