To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Date: Wed, 22 Feb 1995 14:13:59 +0000 (GMT) A friend just told me that Robyn Hitchcock is playing in Camden (London) on 2nd of March. Does anyone know any other UK dates? He tends to play in Leicester but I'd prefer one nearer Cardiff. I was under the impression that K RECORDS does a vinyl only business. Good Lord, if it IS available on CD, could someone let me know soon and how much it is because I am sending them some money this week with plans to purchase it. As much as I like vinyl, if I get the CD, I could listen to it at work, in the car, and on the home stereo!!!! Send mail to compactdisc@delphi.com and ask for the bootleg list. You'll receive about 20 files, each about 20K, filled with lists of bootleg CDs (it might take a coupla days to get the list). After you wade through the billion or so pearl jam and pink floyd boots, you'll find that he has both "Stand Back, Dennis" and "Invisible History" for sale, for $25 each. Or *had* them. I sent the guy who runs this outfit a money order for the two CDs about a week and a half ago. He says he ships 2-day mail, but I haven't received anything. Kinda early, still, but I kinda suspect he's didn't have any in stock had to backorder them. I'll let you all know when/if they arrive. Or, heck, just mail him asking if he's got any of 'em left. Of course, insert standard disclaimer. I don't work for or even know him. Date: Wed, 22 Feb 95 10:33:00 PST Mike, Jay and Bayard and Arn: Thanks for the advice on the sites to get Robyn wallpaper (yes, for my COMPUTER, Bayard; don't think my boyfriend would cotton to Robyn on our walls at home, as much as I'd love it). :) I've looked at all the sites you've recommended and found one I *really* like. I've spent the past hour trying to save it as a .bmp file, (so I can pull it up through the control panel) but I get a message that I don't have enough memory. The one I like is a close up of Robyn and there's a quote next to him that says "God Walks Among Us - Creem Magazine." It's the only "extreme close up" I could find and I got it at the site: ftp://fegmania.wustl.edu/fegmaniax/pictures/RH_ElementAd.jpg. This is a great picture for folks who can get it. -Sharon (northers@nwrel.org) [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Wed, 22 Feb 1995 13:25:29 -0600 (CST) From: JAY LYALL Subject: SXSW web page To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu I finally looked at the web page and there is no date and venue info on it yet, but for those interested the URL is http://www.monsterbit.com/sxsw.html there is a free outdoor concert with Mathew Sweet and Joe Ely.... and on another fron...I went to the last show in Lyle Lovetts tour last night and his t-shirts seemed very Robyn-esque...I got one with and angel coming out of pool while a ring of fish dances around her.... jay %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Jay Lyall "Capy Toad Blast" "You might remember me from other self-help hist1a@jetson.uh.edu videos like "Smoke Yourself Thin." --Simpsons "And others might be magicians, "We'll inherit the Earth, but he was special too, But we don't want it." he had antlers." --Replacements --Robyn Hitchcock %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% [][][][][][][][][][] From: Cynthia Peterson To: Jay Lyall Cc: Fegmaniax Subject: SXSW: Tell me more! Date: Wed, 22 Feb 95 13:09:00 PST My boyfriend and I are due for a vacation and looking into flying down to Austin for the SXSW shindig. It's going to be a bit spendy, but I've been wanting to do SXSW for a while now and this seems to be the right year...! Has anyone else been to this festival? What else can you tell us about the wristband option and how that works? Exactly how horrendous can the crowds get? Oh, and does anyone know, when the times and venues are layed out, if this information will be posted to the SXSW web page? I'd hate to fly down there with the expectation of seeing all these really great bands and then find out I'd already missed one of my faves... At the moment, the lineups seem too good to be true! Some things that may be of interest: London, Camden Dingwalls, 2nd March: Robyn plays an acoustic set starting at 8.30pm, followed by 40 minutes of Martin Carthy, Robyn's electric set and then maybe Robyn & Martin together. My ticket says 'over 18s'. There's a possibility of a "SMALL UK tour" but no other dates or details. The newsletter confirms that "You And Oblivion" was also known as "Phween" A UK CD single was released on February 13th, apparently: It consists of "My Wife And My Dead Wife" from "GLTHO", plus the three tracks from the US K single ("I Something You," "Man With A Woman's Shadow" and "Zipper In My Spine"). Catalogue number is SEQ2, so I assume the label is Sequel, since I think they're the guys putting out the reissues in the UK. So there's a 7" vinyl AND a CD single version. There's also an up-to-date merchandising list which I won't type in; there's a few of the Midnight releases on vinyl - all LP's from 'Groovy Decoy' to 'Element Of Light' plus 'Invisible Hits' and 'Underwater Moonlight' (these last two on Midnight CD too), some t-shirts, and the 'Gotta Let This Hen Out' video (Euro standard, I guess). Also 12" singles of 'Eaten By Her Own Dinner' and 'If You Were A Priest', and the 'Give It To The Thoth Boys' and 'Where Are The Prawns' cassettes. Write to Mrs Wafflehead, PO Box 1854, London W10 4ZA, UK for details. See (some of) you at Dingwalls ! Jonathan [][][][][][][][] End of this Fegmaniax Digest.
