To: Julian Stewart Cc: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Hello again. I'm the person who offered to tape "The Ghost In You." Before I had a chance to reply, you'd posted again, so here goes ... If you send me your snail-mail address, I'll send you the tapes. I'm really not worried about postage. Quite a bit of the Hitchcock material I have (my first copy of _Underwater Moonlight_, several tapes of live shows, magazines with interviews, and so on) was given to me, and I don't mind returning the favor. _Invisible History_ is available on CD, but seems to be becoming hard to find. Since "The Ghost In You" is on it, would you like a tape of the whole album? I have an original copy of the _Gotta Let This Hen Out!_ videotape. There is some overlap with the _Brenda of the Lightbulb Eyes_ video compilation, but it's still enjoyable. It's a very, very low-budget production that makes the "Balloon Man" video look like an epic. There are songs from the concert that became the GLTHO album, occasionally overlaid with simple special effects, intercut with low-budget videos of songs like "Surgery" and "I Often Dream Of Trains," or Hitchcock wandering around talking to unsuspecting people, and the like. If you'd like, we can exchange lists of the material we have, and trade some tapes. Sincerely, Tracy Copeland [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Mon, 6 Feb 95 21:55:31 EST From: "Balloon Man" To: fegmaniax@ns2.rutgers.edu Subject: Re: Shower activities FARBER@HULAW1.HARVARD.EDU wrote : >When Robyn is explaining why he sometimes wishes he was a pretty girl, >what exactly is it that he would do to himself in the shower? Nonononononononononono!!!!! That's a George Song! _Nobody_ covers George Songs except "Here Comes The Sun" and "Something." 8) I do agree that I could hear Robyn doing the jangely guitar part. I thought it was either "wreck" or "rape." ^^^^^ Right you are. I'm listening to the interview right now: "It was originally 'stab', then it was 'rape', and I thought those were both unfortunate so I changed it. it's actually based on (long pause) on _Psycho,_ where she's killed by somebody pretending to be somebody else.... So I imagined somebody's wishing he could be her pretending to be killed by somebody else pretending to be somebody else; that's like a full remove, you know; it's a total voyeur song; he'd like to imagine to being both partners in some unbearable act. It has no redeeming value at all.... it's just an angry impulse, if you like." Next comes an immortal moment in invisible history, which I now share with you: (moronic interviewer babbles about things she read in the village voice): ".....it said that your music tends to be very weak, and could be stronger if it were angrier..." (Robyn pauses thoughtfully, for about a second.) "Well, whoever said that is a fuckhead, and should have his guts ripped out." bayard [][][][][][][][][][] From: daramsey@vaxsar.vassar.edu Date: 08 Feb 1995 01:14:03 -0300 Subject: Slightly cloudly, with invisible history... The talk about both Beatles & Richard Thompson covers brings up the two wonderful covers he does of "A Day in the Life" and "Withered & Died" on the Live Death disc. Great Clean Steve, Les Deux Wifes & the best version of Arms of Love I've heard. This is a great live EP, well worth the hunting and bucks you'll need to expend to get a copy. Or if folks are interested in a trade (for a taped copy, mind you), let me know. Anyway, glad to be discussing - I already pulled my new sig from the interview posted yesterday! ******** jajasoon tlitteu (jmittell@students.wisc.edu) "Life is a series of flesh cartoons with various characters painlessly rupturing themselves like Tom and Jerry."
