You seem to have missed off a few things from the "Live At The Portland Arms" cassette - All Shook Up, In The Mood, The Book Of Love, etc. Also, is the list supposed to be things that have been released, or any songs ever performed by Robyn/Egyptians/Soft Men (they're too old to be Boys, now, surely ?). FYI, The SF Chronicle pink sheets listed 3 upcoming Hitchcock shows.... 9/21 at the Great American Music Hall 9/22&23 at the Bottom of the Hill Both venues are in San Francisco. GAMH is a lovely place, btw. If anyone's coming from out of town to catch these shows, I can put you up for a night or two. Also, if anyone one wants to join me, I'll be going to the first 2 shows, but not the 3rd. Best bet is that he heads north after these, since he does the S. Cal. shows before the SF shows. Would guess Portland and Seattle would be the next stops. If anyone here on the list is in the Seattle area, could you see if he gets booked into the Croc? If so, the odds of a certain special guest would be pretty high, and I for one would go up there just for that. yr. humble servant, Andy / ruppen@qal.berkeley.edu [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Tue, 23 Aug 1994 09:27:37 -0400 (EDT) From: "John B. I wonder how full blown this tour is going to be??? Please everyone, keep me and everyone else informed as you find out more dates on the tour. I haven't seen Robyn Hitchcock perform solo since the Eye tour, and I'm dying to see a couple of shows. I live in the Central New York area, and will travel anywhere within a 7-8hr away radius to see him (Boston, Toronto, NYC, Cleveland???) But I need to know where and when they are! To: messages of dark A few things. Weirdo, I lost your address. Please contact me. Secondly, I'm eagerly waiting to hear from those of you who dabble in the musical arts. If your friend, your mom or your dog does, that's fine too. Just let me know! I think we can make this a great covers tape if we get more bands involved. Please tell everyone you know to tell everyone they know who might know someone who does Robyn covers. What about The Garden Path? Thirdly, I'm also waiting for those of you 'in the know' to send me ideas for a faq/information file. I don't want to name names here, but there's definitely a few of you with some great behind-the-scenes knowledge. If you think it's an invasion of privacy, that's fine, but otherwise please share any biographical/background you think others would find interesting. C'mon, share the wealth! ;) There's got to be some great stories/secrets floating around out there in the collective unconscious.. Finally, some lyric-related questions. Apologies if these songs are on the ftp site, I don't think they are. I've always wondered... In Airscape, what's that part about 'the slow release of ..........."? 'Heaven'... what's all that bit at the end, and also the bit after the end? Trinidad... what are the sailors chanting in the background? "I dream......" And exactly what 'language' is he speaking in the midst of "Brenda" on the live version (the one on Gotta...) As always, use private mail if desired. Even more finally, please email me if you're willing to take a look at the complete (?) (280!) song A-Z file... don't want to send it to the list again, but I'd like as much input as possible. The next step is to put in all known information about the songs. Thanks, friends.... makes me feel 25 again. [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Wed, 24 Aug 1994 22:30:04 -0600 (MDT) From: Michael Rosen Subject: Looking for Time Between (Byrds Tribute) To: Fegmaniax Up until Monday night I owned a copy (signed by Peter Buck no less) of Time Between, the Byrds tribute that had, among others, Robyn Hitchcock and Peter Buck as Nigel and the Crosses. I say so because I had left it in my car after listening to it in my car CD player, which I also no longer own. See, someone else liked my stereo more than I and saw fit to take it, along with a few CD's I had on the back floor. Why they grabbed only those and not the ones in the door I have no idea. Two of those I can replace but it's going to be hard to replace this one. Does anyone know where I can obtain another copy of this disc? I picked up Goldmine today with the thought of rummaging through it and seeing what I can find advertised. Read somewhere of another Robyn concert: October 1, Seattle. The Backstage. Apparently the Backstage is fairly small and intimate. Tickets are on sale already. If it sells out and anyone needs a ticket, let me know and I may be able to fix that. Also, apparently Peter Buck will be recording something while Robyn is in the neighborhood. Don't know if it's material for the new album, or what. Not that I know anything about anything, but Bad Animals Studio might be a place to keep an eye on around that date.
