The snippet is sequenced as part of the "Heaven" track, not as a separate track, so I guess it's considered to be part of the song. I've got the "Heaven" 12", but can't recall whether or not the snippet also appears on that. It's too late to check. I'm tired and going to bed. Been reading the posts during lunch, and I heartily second the notion that Robyn ought to publish a book of his artwork/poetry/lyrics/stories. Lou Reed's lyrics were compiled into book form and its excellent, so it would certainly be worth it. I know that Robyn's fans would snap it up. So, Mr. Hitchcock, if you eavesdrop on this newsgroup at all (I'm assuming, being the modern kind of guy that you are, you have access to a computer), how about it? Another note: After reading all the discussion about FEGMANIA, I dusted off my copy and gave it a listen. Great stuff ... I had "Egyptian Cream" running through my head like a hamster on a wheel until I went crazy. Picked up at one of the local used music emporiums a video compilation which included Robyn. Since it hasn't been mentioned before (or it was, and I forgot), here's the details. Compilation is called _Video Mayhem #5_, and is a promo-only thingie put out by A&M in February, 1993. Contains videos by Therapy?, Kitchens of Distinction, Daisy Chainsaw, Suzanne Vega, and Dennis Leary. What does this have to do with Robyn? Well, the thing is produced by our A&M friends Scott Carter and jeff suhy, on a budget rivalling the _Raymond Chandler Evening_ video, wherein the real videos are introduced by the A&M people, with Robyn also putting in two guest appearances. First one he walks into a poker game and then introduces the Suzanne Vega video. Second he's in a kitchen wielding a spatula and introduces the Kitchens of Distinctions video. In both cases he almost not makes sense, in the usual patented Robyn-ish way. Sadly no musical performance by him, but entertaining in a mild sort of way nonetheless. For Hitchcock completeists only. Available in finer used-music stores everywhere. Or at least somewhere. Sometimes. Well, hardly ever. But once, at least. I am a songwriter whose original material is clever (I hope I don't injure myself here- patting myself on the back), weird, and slightly off the beaten path. I am just now gluing a real, physical band together to play the material I have been recording for the past couple of years (the album will be out in November). The problem is that I have a wee bit more than an hour's worth of material, and I need to add some covers for extended live performances (or do the 10-minute dance mix of each song- NOT!)- no problem right? I can decide easily on which material by other artists I can do (some Talking Heads, Oingo Boingo, Stan Ridgeway, Zappa, Morrissey), but RH is a little hard to decide on. I think I would like to do two of his songs but can't seem to decide which ones. If I were playing in your town, what Robin Hitchcock songs would you most like to hear done by some weird yankee with an unusual voice and an _amazing_ band? Why? If you have played in a band and covered Robin, what did you play and why? (There is no real immediate threat that "Mark Gloster and Big Rubber Shark" will be in your town soon unless you live in the greater SF Bay Area, as we will be restricting ourselves to a small performing radius for the next year or so.) Assuming you've got an unusual voice, I'd like to hear you cover Falling Leaves, off of the Invisible Hitchcock cd.
