I don't know of one more up-to-date than that, but I might be able to dig up a copy of the old one. I moved to Texas, and had only a very tiny car to haul all my belongings in. Needless to say, I didn't bring a lot of fan club stuff. :) > I really enjoyed the newsletter, by the way. You did a good job. Gosh. Thanks! It was really a lot of work, and we mostly got grief from everybody, unless we met people at shows. Then they were pretty nice. I'll check on those buttons for ya. Curtis, maybe? I know in the movie his last name is supposed to be >"Draven" and there is no other reference to his last name in the comic, so >maybe its a jump, but it's interesting nonetheless. Also, numerous JD and >Cure lyrics all throughout the comic, i.e. one of the bad-guys tells Erik >to "Go to hell," and Erik says, "I've been waiting for a guide to come and >take me by the hand," (Unknown pleasures) and later there are references >to a "Big black car" (The Cure, Pornography, "Ambition in the back of a >black car..."). Also, one section quotes almost the entirety of Robyn >Hitchcock's "It's a Raymond Chandler Evening." Lots more stufff there, >check it out! > >Charles J. Are you in contact with Carolyn? I think Trudi still is. (She was at Trudi's wedding :) We were very impressed with the job that Carolyn did on the first one. I didn't know she had updated it, but it seems like the newer stuff would be easier to keep track of. It's all those old cheapo singles that were freee with other singles, and stuff in old issues of _Bucketfull_of_Brains_ that are the most annoying to catalog, no? I would be happy to help, but I'm afraid all I'm likely to have access to are the Carolyn ones. Let me know if you need these. I own the LP of the 86 concert, so I can offer a first generation copy. For the record, I'd like to say that Queen Elvis is one hell of a great album. I've never understood this sentiment that Globe of Frogs is so much better (although Chinese Bones is so incredible it could have fit right in with Queen Elvis :-). I like Flesh Number One a lot also, but the album as a whole seems pretty weak. I read/heard an interview with Robyn where he indicated that he felt similarly. So, anyone (that I have not offended) with a copy of the interview LP please drop me a line! The sound quality's rather shoddy- actually the instruments all can be heard quite well, it's the vocals that are impossible to comprehend. Anyways. This song sounds great. I was wondering if anybody out there knows anything more about this song, like what the lyrics might be...also, I was wondering if anyone might somehow have a better version of this mysterious track. Secondly. "Like a Real Smoothie", off the same record...what is a Smoothie? Perhaps one of our friends across the pond could enlighten us? This too is a pretty pleasant song. Very spare instrumental arrangement, but very good early Robyn vocals. And finally. Since there's been discussion recently about the Robyn discography, I thought I'd take this chance to ask again about something I've been searching for for years. In the discography by Carolyn Hamilton which I received from the snail mail fan club, there is a 7" record by Maureen and the Meatpackers listed. The description says it was put out on Armageddon Records, with the catalog number AS-001. I forget the title of the record. HAS ANYONE EVER ENCOUNTERED THIS? Does anyone have a copy of this? Does anyone know if this record really exists? Has anyone EVER heard anything by Maureen and the Meatpackers? Woj, or Sandra, do you have any info about the 7" or any music by the Meatpackers? Might any of you English Fegmaniax be able to find the address of Armageddon Records, if the label still exists? I wrote to Armageddon months ago at the address on the back of the Underwater Moonlight lp, but I never got a reply. Off on a tangent! To: Fegmaniax List I have here a copy of the BBC censorship guidelines from the mid-50's (thanks to a fellow from alt.fan.goons)... there are notes about the impermissibility of doing an impression of a recently-dead politician, and then it notes that other performers are generally fair game for impressionists BUT! a few celebrities feel they have been unjustly lampooned, so these folks have submitted their names to the BBC and cannot be made fun of. Anyhow, Miss Vera Lynn is one of the ten or so who'd done this. Just thought you might like to know. My name is Diane and I cover Birdshead when I do gigs with my band, Rosary. I have a live tape of Robyn and Peter doing this song--both are on guitar. Have you he heard a version where Peter plays mandolin? Gee, it'd be swell if you have and I could get a copy somehow. I've never written on this line before...exciting computer magic.
