Fegmaniax Digest Volume 2 Number 11 [][][][][][][][][][] From: JT Subject: anglepoise = luxo basically To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu Date: Tue, 22 Feb 94 2:37:19 EST Sounds like an angleposie = a Luxo here in the states. These things are still quite popular here, and are pretty expensive. I've got mine on now as a matter of fact. ;) They are used mostly by designers/architects/engineers. As far as that computer animation, I believe you (someone different then this person - Im on the digest, so a "real reply" to individual messages is rather difficult) was referring to "Luxo Jr." by Pixar, animated by Jon Lasetter (sp?) who won an award for "Tin Toy" a while back. I haven't been keeping up with for a while, but Luxo Jr. came out quite a while ago (i.e. more than a year or two). -jt- [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Tue, 22 Feb 1994 01:22:26 -0800 (PST) From: Sean Berry Subject: Re: Queen Elvis o.o.p.? To: the king of spain Cc: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu, seven@dbis.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de I bought Queen Elvis a month ago on cassette. I found it in the cut-out bin for $3.99. I don't know what that means, but I would guess that cut-outs are catalog releases that are no longer selling, so they drill a hole in it and sell it at a discount price. I was a gardner when I was introduced to Mr Hitchcock's music, and I spent 3 months out in the sun listening on my walkman. It was like wearing blinkers. The music and lyrics would totally occupy that part of my mind that usually gets bored doing this kind of work. The most productive 3 months of my life. Alright, I listened to the Hen album last week after quite some time of having not. (To query that "Lucifer in Frognal" line again... which really seems to stick now) And regarding "Sometimes I Wish...", I used to always hear "wreck" myself as well. However, (while being away of other things people have heard) it really sounds most like "wrap" to me now. > 3] What is that song that concludes the _GLTHO_ Jettisoundz video? > I quite like it. Is it available on audio media at all? Anyone? Anyone? It's called "Surgery". It is on the Queen Elvis demos collection though (that doesn't exist). And there's a photo of Feather (TM) scalpel on the Yip Song promo. [][][][][][][][][][] Date: Tue, 22 Feb 94 10:57:14 EST From: ST1D000 To: Subject: This extremely annoying topic. I'm sorry, but I just DON"T CARE anymore what he's saying!! I used to, but I never lost sleep over it and I can live with the vagueness of the lyrics. Can't anyone just accept that he leaves his lyrics vague on purpose and changes them to vary the experience of singing the same songs over and over when on tour?! This really isn't a very radical idea. Wreck, rack, rape, wreak, read, writhe, write, woop- just pick one and be happy with it!! Why should something this trivial be spotlighted for so long when there are probably many more interesting topics people could be discussing?! To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu The song "Surgery" was released on a flexi-disc with the Bob magazine a few years back...the issue also had a great interview with Robyn and a copy of a press release supposedly sent out to accompany the release of "Element of Light". The press release was quite amusing- I forget most of it, but it mentions that Robyn Hitchcock is actually the pen-name of some guy named, oh, I forget...maybe I'll type it in if I can dredge it up. It also mentions that this guy who is Robyn Hitchcock but not really ('cause it's a pen-name) once dressed up as Binky the Human Lobster and attempted to kill himself by jumping out of a window...... "Well the telegram is lying on the table; You left it there, you can't believe it's true... God finds you naked and he leaves you dying, What happens in between is up to you..." daveR.
