Fegmaniax Digest Volume 2 Number 2 [][][][][][][][][][] From: seven@dbis.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de (Susan Johanna Even) Subject: ONXRT To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu (pleasure of the aching void) Date: Mon, 13 Dec 93 12:52:25 MET Cc: ruppen@qal.berkeley.edu (your humble servant), woj@remus.rutgers.edu (the one who understood the tennis ball), seven@dbis.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de Greetings. XRT Radio in Chicago has put out a charity cd for the holidays entitled: ONXRT: Live From the Archives, Volume I It features a collection of songs by different artists including: Railway Shoes (Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians) This recording is from a live interview with the band in the XRT studios on June 18, 1992, during their summer acoustic PI tour. 100 percent of the profits from the disc go to "Christmas For Kids" charities in the Chicago area. According to my snail mail friend Dan, it was released on November 16th, and is a limited edition. It's probably only available in the Chicago area, though apparently not from XRT Radio (as Andy R has discovered). But here's the number for Tower Records in downtown Chicago; perhaps they'd be able to mail out copies of the disc: Tower Records, Chicago 312-477-5994 // 1-800-648-4844 I have three incomplete recordings of the radio interview, including a dub from XRT where they forgot to turn on the recorder at the start and missed Driving Aloud. Does anyone on the list have a complete copy of the interview? Thanks, Susan p.s. Collectors beware: written on the disc cover: Suggested Retail $11.95. Well, that's what the refrain is. Is this a cover? It doesn't sound like a cover. Anybody know this song? They also did "The Live-In Years" -- anybody see/hear them them perform this, or "Bright, Fresh Flower" at any other shows? I'll dig out the other dates if anyone asks. Might well be the only chance we get to see them playing all the old stuff, so I'll be at the Cambridge one, and maybe the Brighton one too if cash allows. See you there. This particular version was recorded live in the States (last year I think, but I don't have the cassette on me at present). I can thoroughly recommend the aforementioned tape. On the ticket it says "plus special guests". Any speculations as to who this might be ? A week or so ago, I was hearing stuff about a Soft Boys reunion with tour dates and all. Since I know a bunch of people that would love to see this band, I'd sure like to know if they're going to hit the San Francisco area. To: Fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu (fegmaniax) Date: Wed, 22 Dec 1993 10:45:45 -0700 (MST) I heard Robyn is already divorced from Cynthia. Is this true? I remember they were engaged forever and I would assume hadn't been married for long then. I wasn't aware he'd even married Cynthia yet, never mind the possibility of divorce. Does anyone have any confirmation of this, as well as of something else I read, which is that Robyn may no longer be with A & M Records? Thanks to anyone with any info.
