Until the recent Ryko re-releases, none of his older stuff was available on CD except via imports. What about the original vinyl releases? Were they released in the states? I've seen a fair amount of the old vinyl stuff in used record stores over the years, but am now curious as to whether it was ever released here. I hear "all you get is a frame", which fits in rather well with some of the other songs on the album (such as Flesh Cartoons and Queen Elvis), as well as the themes of "masks" and "photos". some people I've asked hear "all you get is afraid", which to me sounds a bit funny grammatically. dunno. ********* I think it's "afraid," too, and don't find it at all bizarre.... it seems incredibly painful and touching (which is in keeping with a lot of the emotional theme of the album), and most of all TRUE.... Speaking of how we fear love and the vulnerability and pain it brings.... Were they released in the states? let's see... on vinyl and cassette, relativity records licensed all of the pre-globe releases except groovy decay and fegmania! (which was released by slash records). there have been lots of rumors that relativity also released that stuff on cd, but i have never seen any of these re-issues. the only possible explanation that i can think of is that relativity pulled a trick like the virgin blue plate specials, where instead of actually pressing the cds, they just redistributed the actual imported discs. of course, i can't verify or proove that. +woj From @MITVMA.MIT.EDU:TROUTMAN@MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU Fri Dec 17 16:30:40 1993 Received: from MITVMA.MIT.EDU by geech.gnu.ai.mit.edu (5.65/4.0) with SMTP id ; Fri, 17 Dec 93 16:30:40 -0500 Received: from MITVMA.MIT.EDU by mitvma.mit.edu (IBM VM SMTP V2R2) with BSMTP id 9302; Fri, 17 Dec 93 16:30:45 EST Received: from MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU (NJE origin TROUTMAN@MIDD) by MITVMA.MIT.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 3229; Fri, 17 Dec 1993 16:30:45 -0500 Received: from MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU by MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU (PMDF #12477) id <01H6LCKKWWS00002CL@MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU>; Fri, 17 Dec 1993 16:29 EST Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1993 16:29 EST From: spaceboy Subject: mondo 2000 acticle To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu Message-Id: <01H6LCKKWWS00002CL@MIDD.CC.MIDDLEBURY.EDU> X-Envelope-To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu X-Vms-To: FEG hey all, i sent a message out to the list a couple of weeks ago, regarding an article/interview i came across in mondo 2000 c. _perspex island_. anyway, we were having mail troubles here and i never received a reflected message back so i'm guessing it never went through. well, i checked the archives at cs.uwp.edu and i didn't see the article there so i was wondering if there'd be interest in me posting it? or if someone can let me know if it has already been posted before? thanks, michael. ----------------------------------------------------- "groovin' to a new sin" troutman@middlebury.edu, troutman@midd.bitnet
