Goldmine had a long article on Robyn some 12-18 months back. It included a very detailed discography. I've still got a copy somewhere. If someone is willing to take responsibility for putting together an up-to-date discography, I'd be happy to mail them copies of article. I wasn't quite ready to do this yet, but... I've got two nice sounding Robyn tapes in my possesion that I don't believe are in wide circulation (yet) on this list. The first one is a May '91 solo appearance at the Kennel Club in SF. Longtime fegmaniax member Andy Ruppenstein was kind enough to turn his FM dial to a local broadcast of the show (actually, the broadcast was delayed, and the station didn't know what they were airing, and Andy was at the show, but I digress). The sound quality of this tape is excellent, the absolute best sounding solo show I have. It also features 'vomiting cross' and 'lobsterman', which aren't that common. Also Robyn does a Robin Williamson cover. If anyone can correctly name the song (we're stumped), I'll mail you the tape for free :-). I also have an DAT audience recording of an Egyptian's GOF show back in '88. The quality of this tape is also excellent, as good an audience dub as I've ever heard. The tape is incomplete unfortunately, but still has 60 minutes worth of music on it. And it does have Robyn saying "All the way from Athens, Georgia, it's Peter Buck" immediately before launching into Birdshead. I'd be quite willing to distribute copies of either or both of these shows, but I don't have time to dub for everyone. I am more than willing, however, to dub 5 or 6 copies for distribution to folks willing to do the same. So, if demand warrants it, I'll set up a tree. If you would like copies of either/both of these shows, reply to me (not the list!) and provide the following information: 1) which shows do you want. 2) Are you willing/able to dub tapes for others. If so, please describe your dubbing setup. Two good decks are prefered over single dubbing decks, etc. Model number probably won't mean much to me, so just provide a rough estimate of deck's price and its age. Also, you have to be willing to dub for blanks if you can't agree on anything to trade. Thomas PS, apologies for the previous bogus message. Even those of us that know better make mistakes. :-( From woj@remus.rutgers.edu Tue Nov 16 23:21:58 1993 Received: from romulus.rutgers.edu by geech.gnu.ai.mit.edu (5.65/4.0) with SMTP id ; Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:21:58 -0500 Received: by romulus.rutgers.edu (5.59/SMI4.0/RU1.5/3.08) id AA08643; Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:21:12 EST Date: Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:21:12 EST From: woj@remus.rutgers.edu (the horizon you run to) Message-Id: <9311170421.AA08643@romulus.rutgers.edu> Organization: fegmaniax anonymous To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu Subject: 1988 globe show Thomas Narten sez: >I also have an DAT audience recording of an Egyptian's GOF show back >in '88. if this is only 60 minutes long, this is probably the wxrt broadcast of the 4/9/88 cabaret metro show. susan sent me a recording of this that her sister (i think) made way back when. i think it was the first live robyn tape i ever had. wow. +woj From woj@remus.rutgers.edu Tue Nov 16 23:56:20 1993 Received: from romulus.rutgers.edu by geech.gnu.ai.mit.edu (5.65/4.0) with SMTP id ; Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:56:20 -0500 Received: by romulus.rutgers.edu (5.59/SMI4.0/RU1.5/3.08) id AA09640; Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:55:54 EST Date: Tue, 16 Nov 93 23:55:54 EST From: woj@remus.rutgers.edu (the horizon you run to) Message-Id: <9311170455.AA09640@romulus.rutgers.edu> Organization: fegmaniax anonymous To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu Subject: archives currently the fegmaniax archives are kinda a mess. some lyrics, interviews, and articles are in the pub/music/artists/h/hitchcock.robyn directory while others are in the pub/music/lists/fegmaniax directory. i have no idea which are where, but it does need organizing. if anyone wants to volunteer, go ahead and contact dave datta to get write permission to the directories. if no one does, i'll do it sometime but you all know what "i'll do it sometime" means when it comes from me. :| +woj From ruppen@QAL.Berkeley.Edu Wed Nov 17 01:07:15 1993 Received: from nak.Berkeley.EDU by geech.gnu.ai.mit.edu (5.65/4.0) with SMTP id ; Wed, 17 Nov 93 01:07:15 -0500 Received: from snowy.qal.berkeley.edu by nak.berkeley.edu (8.6.4/1.40) id WAA20436; Tue, 16 Nov 1993 22:07:14 -0800 Received: from leslie.qal.berkeley.edu.QAL by snowy.qal.berkeley.edu (4.1/SMI-3.0DEV3.10) id AA15499; Tue, 16 Nov 93 22:03:19 PST Date: Tue, 16 Nov 93 22:03:19 PST From: ruppen@QAL.Berkeley.Edu (Andy Ruppenstein) Message-Id: <9311170603.AA15499@snowy.qal.berkeley.edu> To: fegmaniax@gnu.ai.mit.edu Subject: Another for the discography While hitting the used misc. cd bin at one of the local record stores I ran into a compilation with one of Robyn's songs on it that I hadn't seen before (the compilation that is, not the song). The title was "More Hits from the Midwest", put out by Twin Tone. Robyn's song was "Satellite", which makes sense since they only released _Eye_. As far as I can tell it was the released version, so it would be strictly for completists only. Cheers, Andy / ruppen@qal.berkeley.edu
