I returned it and the replacement I got does it too. It's really annoying not being able to open the drawer -- it finally comes open after about 50 tries and lots of banging around. Anyone else have this problem? Wonder if the entire pressing (or a segment thereof) was slightly warped or something? Or maybe aliens are living in my player but they only affect this one disc. You would think it might be a player problem first off, unless the disc is visibly flawed. Interestingly enough, it turns out that a large number of CDs are defective. By "large", I mean as high as 30-50% of all CDs are defective. Of course, you don't see very many of them at the local store because the defective ones are filtered out at the manufacturing end of the process. I stumbled across this info in the paper this weekend, where someone had received a patent for a process for recycling CDs. They cited the figures in justifying the need to recycle CDs. So it may well be that a batch of (slightly) defective discs didn't get caught.
