You now make me feel bad for not writing the FRFF setlist and posting it....so here are highlights{or what I remember of them; now that I'm on early Site Crew, I confess that the ACTUAL fest involves me consuming mass quantities of alcohol....and would entail me carrying paper and a pen...how BULKY!!! Pplus, there was a lotta rain and a mini-tornado, so my mind tends to remember all that more vividly} Kerry'll have it all down, though. =) Blues workshop---I honestly don't remember what they did besides ending it with 'Love me like a Man', which was awesome because Chris Smither{who wrote it} was also part of this workshop and gave them the green light to do it, which Julie said made her very nervous, but she NAILED IT!!!!! Saturday Night Mainstage:{in pseudo-order--first song is correct and I -think- the last is, too--lol!!}I know I am missing some songs, to. ~The Three Fine Daughters of Farmer Brown{which, ok, people....I only saw 2-3 people doing 'The Joe' besides myself????!!!! Happened Sunday afternoon..during Robbie's Family Stage appearance. So I got to experience it with Robbie, Noah, Mike, James, and LOTS of screaming, panicky kids and their parents. Mike was holding onto one of the tent poles{as were several parents} because we saw one of the festival tents go down completely and the dining tent went 1/2 down. Water was streaming in and the winds, I believe, they say got up to 70-75 MPH. Funstuff!!! Before all that, Robbie DID manage to get through: ~There's a Carp in the Tub ~Chicken Lips ~PART of Water, a new song he wrote recently......irony, anytone?? After that, it started to get bad, he packed up, the Fest lost power, we stayed in the tent for a while, then they announced that another cell of what we'd just experienced was on its way in 1/2 hour or so, so we all went towards cars/safety. For the firstt time in its 20-year history, the festival closed early. I'll tell you this, folks; it was a Falcon ridge like no other -I've- experienced! It was truly amazing that there were no casualties and I must commend my fellow FRFF Site Crew members and the other volunteers who made what could have been crazy and almost riotous just a walk on the farm. GO TEAM!!!! That all being said, it didn't bode well for Falcon Ridge itself; the downed tents, vendors getting in late because of rains on Wed & Thurs then having to close early and, of course, other factors is causing some concern about next year and if there WILL be an FRFF. Anne Saunders has info on the website at falconridgefolk.com and they've actually set up a Tornado Relief Fund on there where people can donate. Please~if Falcon Ridge is dear to your hearts, if you think fondly of warm summer nights sitting on that hill and having the music wrapping itself around you under those fabulous stars, I implore you to go and make a donation...whatever you can afford...to save our 'home' and make sure there's a next year. Thanks!!! NOW---for Walleye's question: Will EFO still be putting out records in 10 years? I sure hope so!!! I guess only time will tell..... Damn--where is my Magic 8 Ball when I need it???!!! peace, love, & martinis from here in Philly, ~Shelly~ - ----- Original Message ----- From: "johnathan vienneau" To: Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 11:08 PM Subject: RE: EFO/GBS concert - 8/22 > I remember back in 2001-2002, I would post on this list everyday. I've been on the last 2 cruises (2005 and 2007) and have spent time with each band member asking the question about a new album.? Here's the story... It costs a huge amount of money to put out an album (I think Robbie said $40 K).? In order to make your money back, you have to commit to a certain about of touring because that's the only way you can really sell it.? The band is committed to sticking together but to limit touring to approximately one weekend a month, primarily because of Julie's commitment to be with her family.? But everybody is creative and everybody's gotta eat.? Therefore, Robbie and Mike are writing songs and turning them into their own recordings and solo careers.? Robbie has his radio shows and kiddie stuff.? Eddie has his alternative band and does production stuff, as does Bob, the sound guy.? They have found a way to stay together but meet everybody's needs.? They should be commended for this! The real question is whether they'll have the interest and commitment from their hard-core fans to do more cruises.? They all have a great time doing them, and if you haven't been you are missing something really really special!? Last cruise had the 2 "formal" concerts but then the 3 guys were singing with fans outside on the stern of the ship on the last night for hours.? You can really get to know them and their families.? They love the cruises and see them as their opportunity to give back to fans and make connections with them. So, boys and girls, save your pennies!? Maybe there will be a cruise next year or so if we all promise to buy tickets and make it work! In the meantime, enjoy the old favorites!
