I've been to the Birchmere many, many times...for EFO and other artists. I am usually driving directly there from Richmond and don't have time to get there super early if it's on a weekday. I have never gotten there more than half an hour before a show starts, so I have yet to witness the number system. That means I'm usually near the back of the venue. But I don't mind - I have sat in the very last row/table of the venue and still thought I had a pretty good view. Of course it would be ideal to be close up, but I just wanted to let you know that even if you're not in the very front, you still won't be horribly far from the stage; don't worry too much if you can't make it when numbers are handed out. I have also never had a problem with parking, even when I get there at the last minute. I know everyone's tastes in food is different, but I have yet to find anything at the Birchmere that I liked. I'm not a picky eater, but in my opinion, the Birchmere is one of the few places that I call downright bad. I would not recommend it to anyone and I have vowed never to eat there again. I would rather eat somewhere else early before the show or late after the show. But, that's just me. Hopefully if you end up eating there, you'll like it more than i did! :-) Amber. __________________________________________ Yahoo! DSL Something to write home about. Not great, but not inedible. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 13:59:13 -0500 From: Ellen Buckley Subject: Speaking of the Birchmere... ...does anyone have any experience with how reasonable they are about will-call procedures? I just realized that I can't go to next Saturday's show, which I already have tickets for (except that the Birchmere has the actual tickets, and if I could go there to pick them up, I'd be going to the show myself). Has anyone ever successfully transferred tix to someone else's name without actually having to trek down to the Birchmere itself? It's an hour's drive for me even when traffic is light. If it turns out that this is do-able, by the way, I will have 2 tix to unload for next Saturday. peace, ellen (rats!) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 14:17:08 -0500 From: Ellen Buckley Subject: Re: Speaking of the Birchmere... for the benefit of all: On Jan 6, 2006, at 2:16 PM, Steve Santonicola wrote: > I was in this situation too. Zach and I are planning a trip to Niagara Falls soon, and we want to stay on the canadian side. I want to be very sure i can get there and get back, though. My passport is expired, and I know it can take up to 6 weeks to get it renewed. It is my understanding that you don't have to have your passport yet to get in and out of canada. is this true? does anyone know for sure? I have a certified birth certificate, my marriage license, my social security card, and a license. I know that used to by way more than enough. Is it still? Any help is appreciated, I want to visit canada, but I don't want to be stuck there. :) nothing against canada, but my kitty would miss me. It is not exactly true though that you don't need a passport to enter the country. If I were flying in from the US I would most definitely have my passport! You should be fine. :) Happy trails, eh!
