I'm having a bit of a manic moment and at the very last minute I have decided that I *need* to go to this show in Maryland. I will be traveling from Asheville, NC and mostly need to split transportation costs. According to mapquest, i'll be going up I-26 through the Tri-Cities in Tennessee to i-81 and stay on that north in virginia till just past front royal. 500 miles or so. Here's the mapquest route: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&mo=ma&2si=gaz&un=m&1rc=A5XAX&1n=Monroe&cl=EN&ct=NA&2n=Baltimore&1si=gaz&2rc=A5XAX&did=1129828599&rsres=1&1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=asheville&1s=nc&1z=&2ahXX=&2y=US&2a=&2c=Owings+Mills&2s=MD&2z= I have a few places I could arrange to stay in the DC area if need be. If there is anyone in the vicinity of that route that is going and/or wants to go, please let me know asap (tonight or tomorrow morning) Maybe I can meet you and tag along in your ride, or I can come pick you up and you can tag along in my ride. But-- splitting costs is good. :) Holler back, edheads! ~Steven (828) 994-0451 sjrash@charter.net ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 19:37:06 +0000 From: "jen Schimmenti" Subject: Come on Edheads - tickets still available for Saturday Hi Edheads, I saw Julie last night and she told me that there are still some tickets available for the show at the Gordon Center on Saturday night. We need to get this gig sold out folks, first of all, it's the one show Julie is most definitely doing this month and who knows how much longer after that and second, it's a cancer benefit. I know that it would mean a lot to Julie and the whole band if the Gordon Center was completely sold out on Saturday night, so if you even remotely on the fence about going, I'll make up your mind for you - get tickets and go! Thanks ya'll and see you on Saturday! I too had one of those surprising moments (which came right after I had reconcilled to NOT being at the show) when I realized that I'd deeply regret if I didn't make the trip down to see this very special show. But since I don't know the area at all, I was wondering if anybody could suggest a good place for me to hang out or eat dinner or whatever. Is there a good bookstore in town? A yarn store? I should arrive in Owings Mills in the mid-afternoon and will be staying over in town until the next morning. Is anybody game for picking a spot near the theater for dinner before the show and having all the Edheads show up if they can?? OK, three things you need to know about the Owings Mills show. 1) it's practically walking distance from my apartment 2) Owings Mills, despite the nearby Jewish Community Center, is in Hell, strip mall hell. The best we seem to be able to muster is JoAnn fabrics and Barnes & Noble. If you want real culture, you'll have to go to Towson, which is on the way if you're driving from the north. Google the intersection of York Rd & Chesapeake, that's where you want to go. 3) Restaurants are a little better. CJ's Crab House is entirely respectable, and if you're driving a zillion miles to Maryland you'd better eat crabs for dinner. There's also sushi and Chinese very close by. Harriman House up the road is very American but a little pricey. O. Mills also hosts the usual assortment of Don Pablos, Friday's, Panera, Boston Market, and an independent Panera clone across from Barnes & Noble. Now that I re-read what I've written, it sounds like I just volunteered myself to be in charge of this silliness. My recommendation is CJ's - it's close, it's crabs, how can you go wrong (they have lots of other stuff for the seafood-intolerant and the faint at heart - go see cjscrabs.com)? Objections? Other preferences? Carey? Next: how many are we expecting? Drop me an email with your numbers so I can warn the restaurant we're about to annihilate them. - -T Laura Hudson wrote: >But since I don't know the area at all, I was wondering if anybody could >suggest a good place for me to hang out or eat dinner or whatever.
