As much as I enjoy the cruise, the people that run it are not the most organized or responsive. If you have questions, it usually takes multiple contacts, especially if you want something non-standard. >> So, I'm thinking about going on the cruise in November, but not really >> sure what to expect. You'll spend time with the band, but more with fellow edheads (for a low cost version of the cruise, there's always Falcon Ridge). There's way too much food, and probably too much alcohol consumed, but it's a blast. On a similar note, anyone know if the band's planning a show in Miami the night before the cruise like they did in New Orleans? I don't drink much; I hate smoking; I am indifferent to most games of chance; and I was raised by my mother, a French immigrant, to prefer quality food over quantity. [1] That said, an Edhead cruise is amazingly fun, and I'm already signed up for the cruise. What makes the cruise, IMHO, is the people. There's usually around 100 of us, and we do stuff together. On Cruise II (and Cruise I, I'm told, though I wasn't there), we took over one of the back decks. It was Edheads as far as the eye could see. On Cruise III, we took over a previously underused piano bar, thronging it for three nights running. The band, in addition to being tremendously talented musicians, are also a lot of fun to hang out with. And, of course, there's the concerts. The last two cruises had all-request shows, which are every bit as awesome as you probably think they are. They even drag themselves through the Schoolhouse Rock medley, just for us. So, yeah. Go. - --nicole twn [1] Incidentally, this cruise cliche is untrue. The food on my two (so far) cruises has been quite good, particularly in the dining room. I do not recommend drinking the coffee they keep in the large vats, though. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 13:06:54 -0400 From: Pamela Smith Lenox Subject: FRFF - Camp Edhead Would someone 'in the know' as far as Camp Edhead at FRFF please email me offlist? I have a few quick general questions. I'd wait for everyone to start posting info later, but it looks like I will be away from my computer a lot as the festival gets closer..... Thanks in advance! My daughter will be 8 1/2 by then and loves EFO at least as much as I do, but frankly, if the main attraction is staying up with edheads until all hours of the night, I'd probably be out of luck. We do similar things at Pez conventions [go ahead, laugh... we do. :-) ] all the time, but there I have friends who have kids of baby-sitting age to watch her at night when I stay up with the gang....... Any thoughts you have, positive or negative, would be appreciated. We're already planning on FRFF and we do see EFO a couple of times a year in this area. This just seemed like something a bit extra-special if it is doable. Maybe I'm just crazy - in a good way, of course. lol Thanks in advance! Pam PS A call to the company running this did indeed result in an answer. They are obviously not a well-oiled machine, but at least it's an 800 number and they were friendly. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 19:35:33 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: Cruising: a brief introduction > And, of course, there's the concerts. Were there ever any requested songs that the band just wasn't up to speed on and had to decline? ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V8 #57 ****************************
