Apparently, the edhead mail has been down and out for a while. I was informed from the band that the necessary repairs have been made, so let the chatting and blogging begin! Douglas" Subject: RE: Edhead List is up and Running Again I thought I'd been bad and kicked off the list. Couldn't quite figure it out, and when I saw the folks at the Tea Room Sun night in Dallas, I just didn't want to bother them with it. Me: "Why'd you kick me off the list? I've never posted, I've never misbehaved... " Them: "Security!" So but the show Sun night was great. Good turnout, and from various announcements, lots of friends, family, would've-been-family, and ex-roommates in attendance. Good to hear the new stuff in concert, and sorry to not hear some of the older stuff, but elated to hear 'O My Brother,' so it's all good. It's back up... so I can resend this first sent back on 12/9... and say how thrilled I am that EFO is coming back on 5/25... And, funny enough, I want to take a nap yet again. I like naps. Naps are good. First, let me apologize for not getting playlists. :) All I can tell you is they played Come Together during the encore in Seattle and they did mix up the set list between the two shows, tho the majority of the songs were off the new album. Portland show had an intermission and a 1 song encore and Seattle had no intermission, but a 2 song encore. Or maybe 3. Even my dining companion doesn't remember. Mississippi Studios in Portland is an experience. When we go there, I saw on the sign that they sold out which made me think 'Yay! More the chance they'll come back.' Then I walked in the room. No word of a lie, this place looks like it seats 60. Very intimate. Sorta. Most of the seating is about 4 feet below stage height, so when you're in the front row, you really get a good look up everyones noses. Also, *physically* on stage, stage right, are about 12 seats. Down side is that they probably didn't have great sound. Up side is that they were about 3 feet from robbie. The show had high energy, sounded great, tho Julie seemed to be getting scratchier as the night progressed and seemed to call an audible and cut the second set short (couldn't have been by much tho, it seemed full.) The Triple Door in Seattle is almost a polar opposite of Mississippi Studios. Imagine a 30's nightclub, with the local mafia boss sitting at his private table (like, say, Johnny Dangerously, with marilu henner in a shiny dress, laying on a piano) and that's close to what it felt like. Throw in modern effects, like poured concrete, very subtle lighting, and $7 (very very yummy) martinis, and you're just about there. It seats 299 max, and they did have at least 200. It's always hard to judge. Many of the tables are 4 seaters, but might have only had 3 people. It definitely wasn't a sell-out. But it was a kick-ass show. Julie seemed recovered and just kept going. The only problem was that the stage almost looked *too* big for them. I met one other street team member, and some other people from this list in Seattle. And, bless her heart, Julie said they hoped to come back to Seattle. Which would be nice, flying coast to coast is a little much on my wallet :-) Other plus: Mike liked my Utilikilt and now has a card. (http://www.utilikilts.com ) And I think I was convinced to go to Falcon Ridge next year. Which, for some reason, I never knew was in NY, but always thought it was down in PA/WV somewhere. Spreading the Virus: I introduced 4 people to the EFO live in person experience. Everyone had a great time. All had been exposed to the cds, both live and studio, but everyone was wowed. And now, I do believe I'll take a nap. (I wish) - -john ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V8 #1 ***************************
