Didn't quite get the "thong" part but that brings me to the first of my $.04... "This is Me" (the song, not the album) came out way to happy and bouncy. I much prefer Robbies sad and moving version or Julie singing it live with Eddie rolling the snare (as I heard it once in Bryn Mawr). ($.02) Someone commented about the somewhat indistinct neo-country production and sound of some of the songs. I agree with this also but the album is growing on me and I expect to enjoy great live performances of all these songs for the foreseeable future. ($.02) Anyone heard "Fifty Pounds" before? Have they played it live before? Any comments from Mike on where that one came from? I absolutely love "Adios, Lorena". Very original. Distinctly EFO. OK, so that was $.06 or $.08 - -Derek P.S: Can I buy one of Julie's vowels? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 00:28:29 -0400 From: "Lena Freund" Subject: Re: my four cents > Someone commented about the somewhat indistinct neo-country production and sound of some >of the songs. I could not agree more, this song is awesome, very poignant, very EFO indeed charlotte ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 08:59:09 -0400 From: "Jonathan Landry" Subject: RE: my four cents To the best of my knowledge, "Fifty Pounds" has only performed once before, and that was when Mike opened up for Robbie at Jamin' Java back in May. I haven't seen it on any EFO set lists or anyone else mention that song at all. I could be wrong, but I think the only live performance was during Mike's solo spot. Tuesday, he introduced it by saying something like, some people say that puns are the lowest form of humor, and those people should get wedgies. So I think the song was more or less just an excuse to put as many puns into a song as possible. Not that's anything wrong with that... - -----Original Message----- From: owner-edheads@efohio.com [mailto:owner-edheads@efohio.com] On Behalf Of dzecher@comcast.net Sent: Wednesday, October 20, 2004 9:25 PM To: edheads@efohio.com Subject: my four cents Thanks for the report Kerry. The CD is playing right now, and so far, I really like it! The style of some of the songs seem different from past recordings and shows, but the sound is still distinctly EFO. My first impression: another winner! Hoping to make it to Dade City, FL in a few weeks...first live show for me since 1997! Besides, I have a couple of gaps to fill in my CD collection. Mike opened it with the description that he travels to England quite often now (a la Abraham) and wanted to cram in a as many english to English puns as he could. He also related a small story about being slapped over the mis-use of 'fanny' which in England means something very different. t > To the best of my knowledge, "Fifty Pounds" has only performed once before, > and that was when Mike opened up for Robbie at Jamin' Java back in May.
