Checking weather.com, I see that there are no blizzards, ice storms, hurricanes, or plagues of frogs scheduled for Tuesday, so it looks like it might actually happen this time (previous attempts were overcome by the big blizzard and the hurricane). You DC people need to show up! Mike rocks! - -T ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 19:14:50 -0500 From: "Vicki Martel" Subject: First Toronto show Well, since no one has posted, I'll jump in and let you know that EFO was happy to be outnumbered by the audience on their first ever appearance at a Toronto club. I'd been hounding the AD of Hugh's Room to bring them in since the place opened 3 years ago, and I think (hope) everyone was happy. They all looked and sounded great, and I brought some friends with me who are now converts. Mike Ford (Moxy Fruvous) opened, and had a bunch of new songs for us. He's doing a CD release at Hugh's in June. His 20 minutes was more like 45, but he was good. Finally, EFO! Set list: Stupid American Loitering In The Lobby #6 Driver Minnesota 1945 This is Me Great Day Irish Dream Long Walk Home Best of Me 1000 Sarahs Alone Raisin' Cain song Train Song Clear & Present Danger Traffic Jam Like A Girl Tommy The Canexican Don't Think Twice Eddie's Solo Candido & America Eddie's Concubine Rocky Mountain High Old Dominion Come Together Three Fine Daughters My only complaint was the LOUD singing at the table next to ours, during all numbers but especially quiet numbers such as Minnesota 1945. I paid to hear Julie, dammit! So we moved. :) The Fruvous Fans (complete with fuzzy hats) down front provided some interesting dancing during Irish Dream, and provided Os and Mountains Eroding and other arm signals in unison during many of the songs. Having only had the pleasure of seeing EFO live as part of 2 Folk Festivals, I wasn't aware of these exercises. Are these de rigeur? I'm so out of the loop. I wanna learn! It was a great show, and I'm thrilled they came to town. Does anyone know if the weather cleared enough for them to perform Sunday night in Wakefield, QC, at the Black Sheep? Cheers, from half way between Lake Louise, Alberta, and Halifax County (Nova Scotia, Canada), Vicki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 19:17:44 -0500 From: "Benjamin C. I sure hope someone taped that - I LOVE EFO doing Don't Think Twice, though I've never heard it in person. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-edheads@efohio.com [mailto:owner-edheads@efohio.com] On Behalf Of Vicki Martel Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 7:15 PM To: edheads@efohio.com Subject: First Toronto show Well, since no one has posted, I'll jump in and let you know that EFO was happy to be outnumbered by the audience on their first ever appearance at a Toronto club.
