No setlist details at the moment, but the night went very smoothly, with the exception of the parent of a two year old who somehow couldn't conceive of removing said childe from the room as he yammered on and off through the evening (despite a couple pertinent looks from Robbie)... Band had fun, crowd had fun! Mike's cowboy song is a crackup, and the song for his son is a heartstring tugger, to be sure... They we so hot, theysizzled. We hadn't been to a show since the May 2002 cruise, so it was long overdue. The instant the band played/sang their first notes I realized how much I had missed seeing/hearing their shows. They ROCK!!!!!!!!! the folk world as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to a cd with their new songs on it. By the way, Rachael Davis is from our hometown (Cadillac Michigan). I liked your choice of words to describe her. I thing she has more talent packed into her petite body, than most folks on the planet. Thanks for spreading the word! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2004 11:28:10 EST From: PBacoustic@aol.com Subject: Re: Rachael In a message dated 1/17/2004 8:36:20 AM Central Standard Time, hobarter@michweb.net writes: Rachael Davis is from our hometown (Cadillac Michigan). Rachael did a good opening set, along with her "Manservant" (as Mike Clem described him later) Matt (?) being a decent accompaniment. Not fully "polished" yet, but very energetic, honest, and fun... and what a great voice! She didn't play the banjo last night, which I was a little disappointed in.. Don't know how well she did selling product, but she was definitely well-received! Here's another vote for Rachael Davis. Her manservant/guitarist is probably Brett Hartenbach. don ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2004 12:43:26 EST From: PBacoustic@aol.com Subject: Re: Rachael / Brett Ah, yes, my apologies... Mike made the same "manservant" joke in Houston. Rachael said the guy was from her home town in MI but she had "picked him up in New Orleans" for these shows. The guitar he had was an old school Dobro unit. Wood body, metal resonator. Great sound although they need to figure out how to mike it effectively...
