They were opening for Vertical Horizon (which was an acoustic duo at the time). My friends and I were interested in Vertical Horizon but went early to get a good seat and got hooked on EFO. I have been seeing them every chance I get since then. That wasn't as frequent when I lived in NC and GA but now that I am in the DC area I enjoy seeing them more frequently.
