So, Shelly, when you realized it was Mike's birthday, would you say you had an Epiphany? All joking aside, birthdays are solemn ocassions. I think that we should celebrate Mike's birthday in a mature, dignified manner. Let us sing. Guess I'll still try in S.F. It's my first EFO show, SC being my second. Wish they came out here more often. heh. My last attempt at recording something (Indigo Girls in S.F.) came out alright. Used my iPaq PDA but the files have intermittent drops in audio due to the files being written to the SmartCard and CF card. Annoying but listenable. Volume was good even with just the built in microphone. I'm looking at getting the iRiver iHP-120 for recording now though. Don't know much more about recording from a soundboard though. Think I need a DAC but have to research what that will do for me. Anyone have a soundboard recording newbie instruction URL? I've read a little at www.core-sound.com. Oh yeah. In answer to your question about if I'm looking for anything in particular... Nope. Just any and all really. While I love their studio stuff, it appears to me that LIVE is where this band REALLY shines. I'm working on the etree stuff right now. matte PS - cool email address Nicole. Pete and I will be at all of the NoCal shows, taping, of course, and I'd be happy to show you the ropes. There is really nothing to it, especially with Bob helping out. (just stay out of his way, and let him do his job before yours :-) ) I have recorded with absolutely no problems at GAMH, and have successfully recorded at all of the Kwuumba shows. Well, not really. their first time there, I patched into another persons live output jack, and it was overdriven and horribly distorted. My kit includes includes: - - the recorder: currently an Archos 120 GB MP3 recorder (this will be the first time out for the Archos!) - - the power block for the Archos - - a spare MD recorder, just in case - - a power strip and extension cord - - a long RCA-male to RCA-male stereo cable (plugs into the board) - - a 3.5 mm to 2x RCA-female adapter (plugs into the recorder) - - 2 RCA-male to 2xRCA-female adapters (so others can plug into cable coming from the board... or so I can plug into someone elses board patch) - - good quality headphones with sealed earcups - - a digital camera for the CD cover shot - - copies of the CD's that I made last year to give to those who help me out. - - If you are recording to media, remember to bring spare tapes, MD's or whatever. When recording from the board, pay particular attention to the quality of the sound coming from the board. If it is overdriven, you will hear it as distortion, but your level meters will not be pegged. That is where the sealed earphones come in... Good luck! and I'll see you in SF and SC! - ---Jeff--- Matte Edens wrote: > Well. Guess I'll still try in S.F. It's my first EFO show, SC being > my second.
