I've felt quite safe walking down their dark alleys all by my lonesome. But, I also knew God was not going to call me Home then, either. You'll be fine & safe, especially since you're confined to a limited area (presuming you speak Acadian French - j/k). Seriously, I've felt perfectly safe driving around New Orleans by myself & walking around the French Quarter at night by myself. If you walk about like you know where you're going & you know what you're doing (just look like you own the place & "nobody better mess with me"), nobody will mess with you. However, I am a guy & we're not picked for targets by criminals as are the ladies. That is why I recommend the ladies travel in pairs at least. The "group" thing is good for 1) If you get lost, there's a couple of you to help remember the way back & 2) to deter someone from thinking of mugging you & 3) laughing at you if you get scammed by a street performer. New Orleans is no more dangerous than any big city in the USA. Take common sense precautions & you'll be fine. Oh, & never, ever bet the boy where you got your shoes. According to my cruise package, this is where I'll be spending my New Orleans night rather than Bienvieu. =========== Stuart Berkeley Bush wrote: > It's not like Gotham City or anything.
