Not just her own songs, but with songs like "Walk, Humbly Son"? I was talking to Mike about the barbershopish swipe in the song and Julie chimed in immediately that she knew what I was talking about, so I must assume that she's the one who does the vocal arrangements. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Meg Massie" To: Sent: Monday, October 13, 2003 11:55 PM Subject: Re: Song poll > I asked the question about Julie's songwriting at Falcon Ridge this year, and I may be mixing this up, but I believe what I was told was that while Julie doesn't write a lot of the songs, she does write a lot of harmonies and vocal parts. I wasn't in Downtown Crossing yesterday but it's entirely possible my shirt was. I should probably wash it... My wife sang with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus for many years and used to sing opera in college. She's pretty picky when judging voices and she loves EFO and is constantly amazed at what they manage to pull off vocally. She also used to play drums and she'd drop me for Eddie in a second if she was given the chance. So, it's not all us ex-metalheads and hippies that dig the EFO. Any local can tell you how to get there. It's within walking distance to the House of Blues, but then, everything is within walking distance in the French Quarter if you don't mind walking quite a bit. Be certain to travel in groups & don't feed the mimes. - -- Nicole TWN wrote: At 01:47 PM 10/13/2003, you wrote: >Julie also wrote "In Paradise" from Actually Not. I kind of figured she was an equal partner in creating harmony and arrangements, if nothing else because I don't think you can sing the way she does with the guys without having an incredible sense of all that, and it always seemed so collaborative. And I did imagine she was probably thoroughly familiar with barbershop-style harmonies and arrangements, since the two songs I knew that had her by-line on them were a capella with those beautiful, tight harmonies... but it's good to hear it rather than guess it! I will check out the other songs y'all mentioned. Thanks! John Ryan wrote: > Is the Julie the one who also scores the a cappella songs? I work around the corner from Downtown Crossing but 1) I wasn't there yesterday, 2) I don't own a mauve colored Eddie from Ohio t-shirt and most importantly 3) I'm not male. :-) I am a Boston Edhead though!
