I have the formal results in an Excel spreadsheet. If anyone would like the spreadsheet, let me know. You can't send attachments to the list. Below is a copy of the email that I sent on 5/27/02. Your Pal, Chris Mal *************************** Here you go, EFO friends! The EFO Top 20 Results. Below you will find the ranking of 111 EFO songs that garnered at least one Top 20 vote. "Old Dominion" was the #1 song by a land-slide, even though it received only a couple more total votes than "Three Fine Daughters" and "Number 6 Driver," which were #2 and #3, respectively. Rounding out the Top 5 were "Candido" and "Eddie's Concubine." A couple of points... * The detailed tallies are in an Excel spreadsheet which is attached to this email. (Remember, you should have a virus checking program on your computer! Never download attachments from strangers! :o) The Excel version of the Top 111 not only contains more detail, but is a heck of a lot easier to read than the list shown below. * 34 people took part in this exercise. * You will notice that there are a lot more 11th place votes. That is because one person just couldn't put their Top 20 in any order, so rather than throw out her votes, I gave all of her Top 20 EFO songs an 11th place vote. * You will also notice some strange fractions, mostly in the 20th place votes. That is because some people just HAD to list more than 20 songs, so rather than throw out the 21st, 22nd, etc. songs, I made them all "Tied for 20th". So if you listed a 20th, 21st and 22nd favorite EFO songs, I made all three of those songs "Tied for 20th" and gave them each 1/3rd of a 20th place vote. (Can you tell I'm an engineer?! Jeeesh!) * One or two people threw in some "ties" within the Top 20. For example, if you listed two songs "Tied for 3rd," each of those two songs got 1/2 of a 3rd place vote, and 1/2 of a 4th place vote. * The first column of numbers is the total points, obviously. The SECOND column of numbers is the total number of votes received. Kind of interesting to see how sorting the songs by that second column changes the order just a little bit. * If you count only 1st place votes, the #1 song would be a tie between "Old Dominion" and "Candido" which each got (5) first place votes. The only other songs to get more than one first place vote: Number 6 Driver (2), Very Fine Fu neral (2) and From Dacca (2). * A couple of votes I kept together as one song. Example votes for "Tony & Cleo" and "Tony & Cleo Medley" were kept together. * One person voted for Drum Solo. I think we'd agree that if we had all thought to include that as an official song, it would be in the Top 5 at least. (At least, it would for me!) 1 Old Dominion 359 25 2 Number 6 Driver 290 23 3 Famer Brown 288.167 24.167 4 Candido & America 271 21 5 Eddie's Concubine 238 19 6 Woman of Faith 194.5 19 7 Atlantic 191 16 8 One 179 15 9 1000 Sarahs 165.667 13.167 10 Oh, My Brother 159 18 11 This My Town 153.5 14 12 Jerusalem 143.167 12.167 13 Great Day 130 13 14 Bookends 130 12 15 Very Fine Funeral 127 11 16 Best of Me 124 11 17 20 Thousand Hearts 121 10 18 Stupid American 119 13 19 I Don't Think I Know Me 119 9 20 Hey Little Man 116.167 12.167 21 Quick 114 12 22 From Dacca 110 9 23 The Train Song 103.5 10 24 Hail Mary Shy of Redemption 99 8 25 In Paradise 98 8 26 Gravity 97 12 27 30 Second Love Affair 95 10 28 Imagine Me 94 11 29 Good at That 89.167 6.167 30 Observation 86 6 31 Operator 84 8 32 Irish Dream 82.167 8.167 33 North Pacific Rain 79 7 34 Abraham 77 7 35 Bleeker to Broadway 75.333 7.333 36 Ghosts of St. George's 73 6 37 Full of Herself 72 9 38 Under David's Feet 70 7 39 Fly South 62 9 40 Rowboat to Rio 60 5 41 Fifth of July 59 4 42 Minnesota 1945 59 4 43 Bowling in the Hills 57 5 44 Continents of Time 55 7 45 The Bridge 54 8 46 Omar's Got a Problem 54 7 47 Santa Margarita 52 4 48 Down to the River to Pray 49 4 49 Blue Jeans 47.167 4.167 50 Hojo's on Waukegan 47 5 51 Loitering in the Lobby 44 4 52 Cleo & Tony/C&T Medley 43 4 53 Undone 43 3 54 No Left Turns 42 4 55 Sahara 39 5 56 Maylee, I Had a Dream 38.333 3.333 57 Simile Song 38 3 58 Moons of Jupiter 37 5 59 Tom Burleigh's Dead 36.5 3.5 60 If I Had a Boat 36 5 61 New James Bond 34 6 62 Lifeguard Stand 34 5 63 Bonny Brook 32 3 64 Fruited Plain 31.167 3.167 65 Porter's Tale 31.167 3.167 66 How Far to the Water 30 4 67 Monotony 29 4 68 Juan in the Rearview 29 3 69 Big Noise 27 4 70 Payday in the Village 27 3 71 Step into the Outside 26 3 72 Let's Get Mesolithic 25.167 6.167 73 It Ain't Worth 24 5 74 Rolling Pin 23 5 75 Catchers Drummers Anchormen 23 2 76 Schoolhouse Rock 23 2 77 Mistress Snow & Mary Jane 22 3 78 Mimosas in Missouri 20 2 79 Tommy the Canexican 19.5 2.5 80 I Know You Rider Medley 19 1 81 Irish Blessing 19 1 82 Falling Rock 18 2 83 Our Fair City 18 2 84 Eddie's Drum Solo 18 1 85 Not Enough Gold in the World 17 2 86 Smoke 17 2 87 Arnie 17 1 88 On My Own 17 1 89 Straight & Narrow 17 1 90 Walkin' in Jerusalem 16 2 91 Sweet Judy Blue Eyes 16 1 92 What's Up? 16 1 93 Revolution 14 2 94 Margot Fonteyn 13 3 95 Jack Can't Cook 13 2 96 Very Short Fuse 12 2 97 Oh Susannah 12 1 98 Porchlight 11 2 99 But Anyway 9 1 100 No Rules 9 1 101 Tony & Cleo 7 1 102 Don't Think Twice 6 2 103 Here in Rome 6 1 104 Bob the Soundman 4 1 105 Cantering on Fool 4 1 106 Hitman 3 1 107 Grannie's Teeth 1 1 108 Someone to Watch Over Me 1 1 109 Star Spangled Banner 1 1 110 Joe's Gas 0.5 0.5 111 That 7-11 Song 0.167 0.167 YourPal, ChrisMal www.YourPalChrisMal.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 20:55:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Meg Massie Subject: Re: Song poll I asked the question about Julie's songwriting at Falcon Ridge this year, and I may be mixing this up, but I believe what I was told was that while Julie doesn't write a lot of the songs, she does write a lot of harmonies and vocal parts. These contributions don't get her a by-line, but she does her fair share of writing/arranging. Nicole TWN wrote:At 01:47 PM 10/13/2003, you wrote: >Julie also wrote "In Paradise" from Actually Not.
