Needless to say we had a most wonderful time for our first FRFF. We surely intend to be back next year. At dinner, my wife asked me some highlight questions of which we thought we would post. This will surely stir up some interesting replies. Here goes: 1. What was your favorite "moment" of FRFF (i.e. the one moment where you felt that the essence of FRFF came to life)? 2. What was your favorite song (by any artist) that you already knew when it was played? 3. What was your favorite song (by any artist) from the fest that you had not heard before (not necessarily new from the artist - just new to you - However, it may very well be a new song)? 4. What was your favorite performance or workshop? 5. What was your favorite audience participation sing-along? 6. What song did you here the most (i.e. repeated on multiple stages possibly by multiple artists across multiple events)? My answers: 1. Knowing I had a home called "Camp Edhead" where I met about 30 new friends and just generally chilled out. Thanks to all those new friends I met for making me feel at home! 2. Vincent Black Lightning, 1952 - Richard Thompson 3. Gentle Arms of Eden - Dave Carter (seen performed by Tracy Grammer - also seen performed by "Tribes" group artist Pat Wictor). 4. Groove, Stomp, and Shout 5. Send You Off in Style - Pat Wictor; this sing along occurred while watching the artist perform in front of the Tribes booth. It was quaint and quite touching. 6. Stand Janice's answers: 1. Da Vinci's Notebook doing "What a Wonderful World" during Gospel wake up call. 2. Can't Help Falling in Love - Arlo Guthrie segment 3. "Stand" - The Kennedy's 4. Sunday morning Gospel Wake-up Call 5. "This Land Is Your Land" (as sung during Arlo Guthrie segment) 6. Gentle Arms of Eden Have fun! ============ Stuart ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 21:07:03 -0700 (PDT) From: David Fonzi Subject: Re: FRFF Highlight Questions Funny you should ask about our favorite moment - I was thinking about this on my way home from Boston this evening. In stream of conciousness mode ... EFO moment: Their entire Saturday set - I've been gearing on it for weeks. I was fortunate enough to be able photograph the entire show - I'll share a few choice pictures with the list when I get them back - may take a while though ... EFO related moment: Julie, with DaVinci's notebook doing a duet with Storm "Pull my Finger". Meatloaf - eat your heart out - Ok not literally .... Family moment: Maura and Pete Kennedy and friends interacting with all the kids at their family tent show. Maura had a certain twinkle in her eye as did the ASL interpreter whom I'll just call Santa - though he may be actually be Dave McCloskey. Traditional Folk Moment: Alro Guthrie's story about his mother's visit to China - how everyone in the crowd knew his father's song "This land is your land" Best Festival Moment: The Neilds bringing down the house with "Living it up in the Garden" which by itself though stunning was put over teh top when Maura Kennedy danced around offstage tossing out flowers - for me the true essence of the festival atmosphere was captured in time. That said, here are my answers: 1. Neilds - Living it up in the Garden 2. EFO: "Great Day" during the gospel Wake-up call though notable mention to DVN's "Pull My Finger" 3. Holly Near: "You can't take my Mountain (?)" 4: EFO Saturday evening, though Arlo Guthrie came in a respectable second 5. Must concur - Arlo Guthrie "This land is your land" 6. This land is your land - Arlo, The Neilds, any one else ??
