Despite the solid conviction that EFO is the best and most interesting band I have heard in decades, I feel like a lurker sometimes, since I have only one CD, "Quick," (which I bought the very first time I saw them, at Wilmington (DE)'s Ice Cream Festival last July) and I've only seen the band live that once! Anyhow, now I'm looking to get another CD, and asking advice from everyone here: Which CD you would get if you could only get one more, and if you were especially in love with the kind of material on "Quick"? Also, I have a couple friends around the country I really want to share EFO with, and wonder if there's any way to get a lower price if you are buying a half dozen CD's to hand out to friends. Is it possible to get a lower price than is on the order sheet in my CD? Any info or advice appreciated! I had no idea opinion would be so focused and response so fast and copious! I really appreciate the feedback, and believe I will get my hands on "...Fishbowl" as soon as possible! Responses keep coming in as I type this... I had considered the Live (double) CD's, remembering how great they were live, but am trying to limit out-flow to match in-come, and still save enough to get my friends their copies.... Regardless, yes, I do want to support the band and not short-change them, which is why I don't just burn a few copies! What's on the cover of Fishbowl? [Lordy, that's gonna be a real stupid question if it turns out to be a, uh, fishbowl, huh?] My order sheet from the Quick CD (with the pictures of all the available EFO-related CD's -- my reference guide for the time being...) is with the CD... (in my nephew's possession!) And what's the CD with the cow on the front called? SIDEBAR 1: My nephew's 11, almost 12, and he just joined us on a trip to Williamsburg with us this past weekend, and we must've played the CD 5 times in 3 days because he loved it so much. As we're sight-seeing in historic Williamsburg and walking around between rides at "Water Country USA" (or whatever it's called?), he keeps breaking out with "Allll-berrrrrt Eiiiiiiin-steiiiiin... w'z nehhh-ver gooood a-at Maaaaath!" and "Hey Little Ma-an! Hey Little Ma-an! Wutchoo gunna dreamabout t'-niiiiight!" It was very cool. And he literally begged me to borrow the CD for a week, he's so enchanted with it. But what's even cooler is that my little boy (2-years-&-4-months old) sitting there in his carseat, loves to shout out "Liddle Man! Liddle Man! Choo dreambout anight?" It is so in-cred-ibly cute, I'm sure you can imagine. SIDEBAR 2: Being in Virginia, as we were, I was pretty sure that the CD's must be sold in local book and CD stores, so I asked the waiter as we had lunch on the way out of town if he knew where we could find EFO discs, and he brightened up and said he was familiar with, and a fan of, their work, and [getting back to why I asked about the cover art] said he had the album with the cow on the cover (he said the name, but I have since forgotten the title, and don't have my handy reference sheet to look at!). In fact, he said he and his band liked EFO, and some of their stuff was very similar. It turned out that this may have been more of a sales angle ("selling" enthusiasm for his band... not trying to crassly or literally sell me anything, actually), or an extremely optimistic evaluation of his band's work. I know, because he in fact, very generously, gave me two discs: one an in-progress demo of 3 songs, and the other a full-blown CD. No offense to the band AT ALL (anyone know "Virginia Creeper"?)... because there are very few artists available in this country, that I know of, whose songwriting is as creative and clever as EFO's, or whose vocal and instrumental expertise is so perfectly honed as theirs... But the kind (and level) of skill and wit that I love EFO for wasn't really present in their stuff. HOWEVER, albeit not MY cup of tea, I sensed from their live trax, especially, that they could be a real fun band to follow [in other words, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from checking them out if given the chance... Plus, girls, he was a charming and handsome fellow, to be sure!] Anyway, Thanks a million for the input, folks, and if it keeps coming, I'll just have use it to decide which CD will be my 3rd!
