Mike is reading over Robbie's shoulder. Julie's by the mirror. Eddie is clearly leaning on his left hand. All of this can only mean one thing... Paul is dead. Actually, I did notice that there's a WFUV sticker on the suitcase Bob's leaning on. If you've ever seen their sticker, it's pretty hard to miss. The placement is either entirely deliberate or completely unintentional. - -Melissa (I can see the R, the O, and the first B quite easily. The symbolism is, indeed, deep. The television represents our subconscious. A strangely-uniformed, faintly sinister Bob, much like Rod Serling in the Twilight Zone, serves as our guide to this inchoate world. And it is no accident that the dials are set to "9", in a subtle reference to Shakespeare's witches in _Macbeth_: "Thrice to thine, and thrice to mine/ And thrice again, to make up nine". The message is clear: I am the Walrus. Or maybe Bob is the Walrus. > p.s. Did Robbie sign other people's over the picture > in such a way that you can't see it? I get part of > the R. That's it. :) Lucky. *I* got a squiggle that might just as easily be "Klaatu barata nikto" as "Robbie". Also someone named "Ellu" signed it. Maybe Eddie wasn't available. But seriously. I like it! What a relief to have a listenable version of songs like "Continents of Time" (I *really* don't like the oboe on the studio version). "Tommy the Canexican" has a neat mariachi sound with the horns and accordion. The piano adds a great tinkly quality. Yar, this CD rocks. I'm extra-super glad that they put the banter at the end. It's fun to listen to when you want, and easily skipped-over when you don't. Plus the bit about the elderly Muppets rocks. :) About the instrumentals playing over the banter: what's the deal? Surely that wasn't live. Who put it in, and when? And what's the music? I could only identify two pieces: "The Entertainer" (Joplin) (somewhere in the middle), and the aria from _Carmen_ (Bizet) (at the very end). Anyone get the others? - --nicole twn *** "A little pain never hurt anyone."--from the Compendium of Rarely Used Cliches Visit www.nicolopolis.com ... digital nonsense for a weary world. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Feb 2003 22:15:38 -0500 (EST) From: "katie stohlmann" Subject: Re: Three Rooms! I love three rooms! It arrived at KRCB and nobody told me for TWO whole days that we had it. That's child abuse. Or recording engineer abuse, whichever you prefer. I love the spliced together banter track. That's a stroke of protools genius! I like how some of the songs were recorded in the outdoor venue. You can feel the excitement and all the energy from the crowd in such a magnified way. Very fun. Can't wait to get my own copy so i can return the one i "borrowed" from the station. (don't worry, it'll be in the studio for the folk show tomorrow) does anybody know if this will be available in stores or just online and at shows? speaking of EFO, i used "maylee i had a dream" in a promo for a valentine's show about deceit and revenge. the part about the knife...everybody liked it! yay efo! katie The most personalized portal on the Web! ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V6 #28 ****************************
