wow. everyone probably thought that either  a}  i fell offa the planet or b} 
i stopped going to efo shows, eh?  well, neither are true; i just have 
admittedly sucked at posting reviews lately.  i shamefully even attended the 
iron horse shows -and- the lupo's show and sellersville shows and never 
posted anything.  bad shell! NO COOKIE!!!

anyhoo, before i get voted offa the island, thought i'd best review a show, 
especially since it was the last show of the year..  well......plus i've been 
threatened.  so i am gonna do my damnedest to so a 'shelly-style' 
encapsulation coz i tried to write some quotes down saturday night as well.

new york city.  dateline: dec 14th, 2002.  bb king's.  times square.  let me 
just start by having a geek-out moment and saying that i can't describe the 
thrill, excitement, and pride that i felt rounding the corner from 8th avenue 
and seing their name emblazoned on a marquee in times square.  i mean, 
honestly.  it was one of the coolest things{though i forgot to take a picture 
to share the memory with others}  the venue had 2 'jumbotron' screens on 
either side of the stage and lotsa cool lighting.{as a former theatre chick, 
i SO appreciated it all}.  -very- nice venue.  and great drinks. and the 
desserts were huge and looked extremely nummy.  yah.

we were there for a little while and my FAVE MA edhead, the ever-cool marli 
came up and gave me a big hug and  we chittered a little while before she 
went back to her table.  but i wish we could have talked more...*sniffle*

the opener was steven kellogg. very good.  if he comes to your town, do go 
see him. 

dring the break, a young lady got my attention and asked 'are you shelly??' 
and i said i was.  she said 'my friend thinks he knows you...he said he reads 
your emails...."  turns out it ws NONE OTHER than bert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  my 
friend in 'moons of jupiter' worship!!!  got to FINALLY meet him and talk a 
brief bit before going back to our table before the band came out.

jumbo-tron!!!  wow, that's one hell of a lens!{at which point mike turned 
around to look at it and it was zoomed in on him}whoa! not too close; i'm 
having a clearasil moment."--mc

"did you use that clearasil cover-up i gave you in the dressing room?"--jmw

"man, there's just NO right answer to that question, is there?"---rs

"so..times square...LOTS of electricity!  how does it all work all of the 
time??  we can't comprehend how it all works because, you see, we all went to 
state schools."--rs

"that must be one big-ass gerbil wheel!!"--mc

"the question of the day that we're trying to find an answer to is how many 
starbucks are there on the island of manhattan?{someone in the audience 
yelled '3'} no...we don't mean in times square...we mean the whole city.  
don't get me wrong...we like starbucks"--rs

robbie then explained how special NYC audiences were to their hearts ever 
since the show on sept 21st, 2001 and the wonderful knitting factory show and 
that the next song was an older song that celebrates the spirit of new york.

"the last time i was in times square was for new year's 1990..quite a long 
time ago.  today i saw them wheeling dick clark in earlier....2 weeks early.

robbie then turned around to look at it.

NUMBER SIX DRIVER

'i have three sons and all of them have been afraid of santa claus. the 
oldest is over that now, but the midle one is 5 1/2 and he was still 
undecided about it and the other week his pre-school had a holiday party and 
santa came.  all of the adults and kids had their nametags on and he decided 
he was gonna go up on santa's lap and he went up and santa said 'well hello, 
ethan! how are YOU today??' and he walked back to me sorts dazed and said 'he 
knowed my name.  how did he knowed my name??'  so now he's decided what he 
wants to be when he grows up....which changes every week..but this week he 
wants to be santa claus.  .........i'm Jewish......but my wife is 
Catholic...so i guess he's made his choice...."--rs

"but when i told my parents that i wanted to leave the business world to make

for HIS playstation, he's eddie from ohio hartness!!

another recurring comment during the night from mike and robbie was the 
result of a heckler; robbie said 'you sir should go into show business.....i 
mean right now...GO!!!!"  and then every now and then when someone would say 
anything mike would say 'you..go into show business..go!!!'  very funny.

they had a signing line and i waited to see them all afterwards and the funny 
thing is that someone asked me if i was me and commented on the Media, PA 
post-show party and asked me if i catered it myself, which i told him, yes, i 
did and he joked that he should get me to cater his birthday party.  the 
funnier thing is as i was talking to my friends, i heard him tell the band 'i 
got to meet shelly!!!' and mentioning that they had been ot the party to them 
and saying the birthday party catering thiung, too.

so i guess that iffin you lump seeing marli, the recognition by and meeting 
of bert, the very kind birthday wish from the band from stage and the guy 
from the party all together, you basically have my fifteen minutes of 
fame....in times square...hoe friggin cool is THAT????!!!

ok...so there you have it; my last efo review of the year.

though i'll try to chirp in about the robbiesolo show this friday at jammin 
java.  and of -course- the jelly fish blues band gig on dec 28th.  have GREAT 
holiDAYs, everyone.

As a Shellyhead, I can attest to the fact that we were, indeed, out in full 
force.  We met for dinner before the show, and John and I were there waaay 
early and talked to Julie a bit on the street.  She said they were amazed at 
the marquis too, and I asked if she'd noticed that the other side of it said 
"Molly Hatchett, December 17"!  Too funny!  After she left, I asked John 
whether she had any idea of who we were.  He said "oh, she knows we come 
with Shelly."
