Saturday, December 28, 2002 The Jellyfish Blues Band (featuring Robbie, Eddie & Mike) The State Theater Showtime: Jellyfish Blues starts at 9PM opening for New Potato Caboose *ahem* May I just say, "WAAAAHOOOOOOO!" I already have my tickets and I'm totally stoked for this year's NPC reunion [1], but what an excellent surprise to discover that JBB is the opener! This year, not only do I *not* have to choose (NPC usually holds their reunion show on Thanksgiving weekend, at the same time that EFO usually has shows scheduled at the Ramshead), I'm even getting 2 for the price of 1. *happy dance happy dance* For those of you anywhere near the DC area, I exhort you to go to this show. NPC started in the mid-80s as a Grateful Dead cover band, but pretty quickly evolved into a DC area bar-band phenomenon. Acts like the Dave Matthews Band opened for NPC. When they stopped touring around '94 (to pursue Real Jobs and Grown-up Lives), I was heartbroken. Since 1997, though, they've been doing an annual reunion show (they were one of the last acts to play at the Bayou before it closed) and I've been to 3 or 4 of them. Let me tell you, these guys still jam. Every year they get up there and they play like they've been saving it up all year. It's such an incredible show, and every year I worry that this one will be the last. I promise, you will have a good time if you go to this show. And oh yeah... Robbie, Mike and Eddie are in the opening act. ;) For those of you who were there and have your own fond memories... here's a blast from the past: http://www.radiomosaic.com/Gallery/Old_Caboose/Promo-1.jpg peace, ellen [1] before I was an edhead-- and I mean WAAAYYYY before-- I was, among other things, a "potato-head." And this is the first year that my college roomie, the one who took me to my first NPC show, will be in town for the reunion. Can I get a "woo hoo" for reliving your early 20s? Thank you. ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V5 #247 *****************************
