Mike, or whichever one of you cats is reading this... Have you guys looked into playing Merlefest? Granted, they don't take unsolicited press or media packs, but... It's not just bluegrass [ although Very Fine Funeral would fit right in with Vassar Clements - heck, he might even PLAY on it! :-D ], it's Americana music, and with the lineup [ check out www.merlefest.org for more info ] for this coming year, featuring the Flecktones, Sam Bush, Vassar Clements, Jerry Douglas, Donna the Buffalo, Tony Rice, Tim O'Brien, Bruce Hornsby, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage [not only do chicks rock, they also play kicka$$ bluegrass]... The list goes on. EFO would fit VERY well in there. Some[if not all!] of you guys who rave about Falcon Ridge should come down to our little corner of heaven in Wilkes County [ I'm in neighboring Forsyth County, home of Ziggy's, North Carolina's Church of Rock n' Roll. :-D ], and listen to the likes of bluegrass, old time, and just good music for your soul with the gods-and-legends-to-be of american music. Tickets are already getting scarce for the seats [ lawn seats are plentiful, but out of range... ]. Sadly, no taping at Merlefest [ don't know why ], at least this year. Oh, and those missing part of the EFO set from the neighborhood theatre from october [ it's not really fair to call it Rocktober, since it was an EFO show... Perhaps Folktober? Nah. ]... I'm working out a problem with my SCSI Dat drive for the conversion process... As soon as I figure out which jumper is not set right, we'll be spinning the show down from my dat master to a format more transferrable online. Since I've rambled... WOB: blanks and postage copies of EFO 11.21.1998 @ Ziggy's for the first 3 people who can play the Kevin Bacon game, instead using EFO as "Kevin" and find the "shortest path" between EFO and Lyle Lovett, using NOT songs played by both [ She's Hot to Go, If I Had a Boat ], but instead, guest or normal performers on recorded studio albums. If you need a hint... Start with EFO's Looking Out the Fishbowl. I promise it's easy. :-D Namaste, will Opportunities are a tricky crop, with tiny flowers that are difficult to see and even more difficult to harvest - Brian Herbert ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 22:05:44 +1300 From: "Ken Stiffler" Subject: RE: a little off-topic but of interest... more will wrote: >>Since I've rambled... I would expect that Pete Kennedy has played on an EFO record or two. Pete has played on Nanci Griffith's records. Nanci has probably performed on a Lyle recording, but Lyle has definitely performed on Nanci's. So that's: EFO - Pete Kennedy - Nanci Griffith - Lyle. It's also possible that Pete and Lyle have both performed on the SAME Nanci Griffith song, which would make it EFO - Pete - Lyle. And I wouldn't be too surprised if Pete has played on a Lyle record, which would again make it EFO - Pete - Lyle. Of course, I'm not totally sure off the top of my head if Pete has played on EFO's records, or they on The Kennedys' records, so this may break down right from the get go. :) Then again, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's EFO - Bruce Hornsby - Lyle. For that matter, Bruce is probably a direct link between EFO and Kevin Bacon. Sure wish I had some liner notes handy. And I've been requesting them at the Strawberry Music Festival since I first heard EFO. The Strawberry audience would really appreciate Eddie From Ohio, and it would give a big boost to their California following. - -- Steve Premo -- Santa Cruz, California "Life is just a leap of faith.
