I've always wondered about covers... Obviously bands need to get permission (and probably pay $$$) to put cover songs on their albums. But do they have to follow the same rules in order to play these songs live? Does it matter if it's a concert or a bar gig? EFO used to do so many covers when they played at Bad Habits, and only do a few per show nowadays (other than the ones that have already appeared on albums). Is it because money is more of an issue? Can anyone shed some light? Thanks, JJ >From: "Christopher Evans" >To: >Subject: A new topic... Covers. >Date: Thu, 19 Sep 2002 13:10:17 -0400 > >I agree, Marli. Shelly is Great! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahhhhhh Shelly! Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the after-show meet-the-band party. We had to get home to release the babysitter from her duties. Otherwise it would have been about 2AM until we returned home. My Mom and Dad were at the show, though, and did stay after the show, and had a great time. My Dad got to share birthday cake and some stories with Eddie. They were even nice enough to surprise me with a "Folkin' Excellent" shirt signed by the band. All made possible by the great SHELLY! Like Ellen said, Kudos to Shelly...although I prefer Quaker Oats Cinnamon Granola Bars over Kudos. So Quaker Oats to Shelly!!!! Hehehe.
