I'm told the parking is a mess!! Lots of construction going on. He came to see Jonatha Brookes and was surprised and angered when he learned that she was the opener. Apparently the audience is fairly rude to the opener a Wolftrap. So he started out being pissed off at EFO when they hit the stage. He had a lot of other comments about EFO, which I'm sure none of us here would agree with, so I won't go into them. Many of the Dar listers took him to task for not being fair to EFO and suggested that it's never a good idea to see your favorite artist as an opener. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2002 21:38:54 -0400 From: Don Semmens Subject: Re: The Wolftrap saga I read his post on the Dar list and was going to respond there, but what the heck, I'll do it here. I have to say, I wasn't very impressed with Jonatha. Actually, I liked her first couple songs, but then the band came out and her style changed to something I wasn't interested in. (keep in mind, I'm not saying she's bad, I'm just saying I wasn't interested. YMMV). But I can understand about rude audiences and opening acts. A couple years ago I saw 10,000 Maniacs at The RamsHead Tavern. I was there to see them, but I was also excited to see Jennie Stearns, the opening act (I had seen her open for 10km the night before at The Birchmere). Well, the majority of the audience talked through her entire set. I ended up writing the management, and received a polite response, but they also intimated that she could have brought the audience around to listening to her (ignoring their policy of no talking). Anyway, the poster is certainly entitled to their opinion (as wrong as it may be) :-) But, more interesting in the thread was the contention that EFO is a bar band. Granted, I came to the band late (1998), but I've never seen them as a bar band. Yes, I know that's how they started out, but it seems to me they're all about the music and not background for drinkers.
