I was on the West Coast earlier this week and got a chance to see Bruce at the Rose Garden in Portland. I picked up one of those GA tickets on the street before the show (for half price) and ended up about 30 feet from the stage. Haven't been that close to him on stage since the days at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby. His show is not the marathon that they used to be, but he still has the fire and the E Street Band playing both the new and old music was really tight. The up close and personal crowd in front of the stage in Portland were the folks that lined up about noon and then were let in when the doors opened a little after 6, a rumored 300 folks. The crowd management for the floor was really well done with multiple checks of tickets and wristbands to make sure the area didn't get too crowded and a mixture of Bruce regulars and first timers. Overall, I thought the GA thing worked pretty well in Portland, but if you're going to do the GA thing, get there early and be at least 5'10". On the other music note, I've got my Donna The Buffalo tickets for September and my EFO tickets for October here in Charlotte... Someone on another list said he or she saw EFO at WolfTrap and it was a terrible show, and 1/2 the audience left during the second song. The first part obviously could just be one person's opinion, but I can't imagine 1/2 the audience leaving at the beginning of a set unless they were the tail end of a show where there were other acts that people came to see. Anyone know anything about this? ------------------------------ End of edheads-digest V5 #190 *****************************
